The Democratic Socialist darling of the Media(D) is getting the Hollywood treatment.
A documentary that will be released on January 26 at the Sundance Film Festival features Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). She’s not the only woman profiled in the movie but is by far the most prominent. The film chronicles several ‘blue-collar’ women who ran for office without taking ‘corporate money’.
In a glowing article about the ‘Knock Down the House‘ documentary the author, Marisa Guthrie, gushes about Ocasio Cortez and her amazing ‘Cinderella’ story. Would a Democratic Socialist be happy with that sort of comparison, I wonder? After all, doesn’t that imply that she started with nothing and finished as royalty? If history is any indicator, socialism does the reverse.
Ocasio-Cortez’s Cinderella story — she was bartending at a taqueria in Union Square before she launched her campaign — and her social media prowess (fellow pols are afraid that she’ll mean-tweet them) have made her an object of obsession on both the right and left, catapulting her into the zeitgeist at head-spinning speed. Her participation in a documentary set to make its debut Jan. 26 at the Sundance Film Festival and her planned appearance in Park City to promote the film are likely to add more fuel to the fire.
Director Rachel Lears’ Knock Down the House benefits from the good fortune of having followed Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign long before Colbert or anyone knew her name. She was merely one of the new generation of female candidates Lears chronicled as they challenged old guards. It just so happens Ocasio-Cortez won.
The article highlights AOC’s multiple appearances on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and insists that both the right and the left are obsessed with her.
When the Media(D) takes a not-yet-thirty-year-old woman and thrusts her into the national spotlight and she keeps saying ridiculous things, the right has got to respond.
Seriously, some of the things that this chick has said make you wonder if she’s dumber than a sack of hammers.
On Firing Line she claimed that Israel is occupying Palestine, and when questioned on that she said that she wasn’t an ‘expert’ and yet — her degree is literally in International Relations and Economics from Boston University. If you haven’t seen this slip up, you can watch it here.
Just yesterday, ClashDaily reported that Ocasio-Cortez has said that the world will end in 12 years if we don’t tackle climate change.
Ocasio-Cortez has become the new face of the resistance, electrifying the media, emerging as a hero to millennials alienated by broken government, and confounding establishment Democrats as much as the “alt-right dudebros,” as she calls them, who have attempted to trivialize and villainize her. Her upstart primary victory was the first evidence of the coming blue wave that would see Democrats take 40 seats and control of the House of Representatives, and her overnight rise has fascinated the mainstream media even as the primetime chorus on Fox News and the right-wing commentariat attempts to turn her into a junior version of Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters, their favorite left-wing boogeymen. “Downright scary,” is how Sean Hannity has described her policy positions. She is “the most dangerous person in America right now … ignore her at your own peril,” warned actor turned social media malcontent James Woods.

ClashDaily has taken to calling Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ‘Occasional-Cortex’ because of the infrequency with which her neurons seem to fire.
She’s called President Trump a racist.
She has claimed that Jesus was a refugee.
She’s also dubbed ‘spa days’ political.
And one of the dumbest of all of the dumb statements was when she said that Democrats would ‘run train’ on the progressive agenda — a reference to gang rape. You’d think that Alex from the Bronx would know what that phrase meant. But especially after it was used on Social Media(D) when the Senate Democrats and The Media(D) made such a big deal about the unfounded allegation that Justice Brett Kavanaugh was running a gang rape ring when he was a high school sophomore. Weird, that.
Over here at ClashDaily, we think the movie title isn’t so great. It could use a little zhuzhing.
