Post “Bat Man Shooting”: 2nd Amendment Rights? Repeating the Obvious.

I confess, mere hours removed from Aurora, CO’s mass-murder outrage, I genuinely resent being bustled into defending our 2nd Amendment right “to keep and bear arms”. Then again, what are those of us who value our Constitution, our Liberty, our safety supposed to do? The anti-self-defense Progs sure wasted not one moment commandeering this awful situation to spout their threadbare “we’ve-got-to-do-something-about-guns” mantra. (See the increasingly feckless Mayor of New York City, for just one example).

George Orwell famously adjured the first task of intelligent people is to state the obvious. So what’s obvious to those who give this atrocity a moment’s consideration? That the problem is not lack of law or regulation; that the problem, in fact, is sanguinary law-breakers, regulation-defiers like the alleged shooter, James Holmes.

Freedom Outpost‘s Tim Brown bluntly outlines the very basic, but grimly sensible, case for the importance of Constitutionally-preserved gun-ownership rights.

It is my opinion that had the people within the theater been men and women who were armed as they entered, one of three things would have happened: Holmes would have thought twice about pulling a stunt like this, he would have been killed within seconds of starting his shooting spree, or he would have never got off a shot as soon as he exposed his weapons.
