Sister Simone’s O’Reilly Appearance Reminds Us: Communism is a Bad “Habit”
Sister Simone Campbell’s appearance on the O’Reilly Factor Monday evening August 13 was a bewildering eye-opener. She is the Executive Director of NETWORK, a Washington based Social Justice Lobbying organization. Talk about a quasi-communist! She not only is one but she doesn’t know it or wouldn’t admit it.
Sister Simone recently lead “Nuns on the Bus”, a nine-state tour wrapping up in July in Washington, DC. The two-week, 2700 mile effort targeted Wisconsin Representative, now Republican Vice Presidential nominee, Paul Ryan’s federal budget plan; which Simone says will hurt the needy.
Sister Simone, on the O’Reilly program, was highly critical of the Romney/Ryan economic plan for creating jobs, higher wages, growing the economy, overcoming our national deficit and debt, etc. “on the backs of the poor.” This was Monday evening, a couple days after the Ryan VP announcement the Saturday before. She has obviously accepted the Obama/Pelosi/Reid/Democrat propaganda opposing Romney/Ryan.
However, the Sister, who is also an attorney, was unable to cite any improvements in the plight of the poor even after 4-years of Obama’s massive spending on entitlements! O’Reilly, on the other hand, produced data showing how the poverty level in Appalachia has increase from 12% to 15% despite Obama’s unprecedented spending on the poor and impoverished. O’Reilly says over 100 million Americans now receive government assistance, not counting Social Security and Medicare.
O’Reilly repeatedly asked the 67 year old California native what she wanted for the poor. She couldn’t say or was unwilling to say. Reading between the lines and observing her divergent non-responses and nonverbal communications, I sense she wants a guaranteed income for the poor, whether they work or not. She is apparently dissatisfied with the current record level of entitlement protection, and is opposed to any reduction in entitlements for the poor or requirement that the poor must work to collect benefits. She feels Romney/Ryan will effect entitlement cutbacks.
Sister Simone was clearly unwilling to expose her true de facto Marxist/Socialist/radical-leftist leanings on national TV. Apparently, this well intentioned sister does not recognize the negative consequences of such a quasi-Communist society – of the disasters that have ensued wherever Communism (under whatever name they chose to call it) has been tried.
When you pay people for not working, guess what? They are less inclined to work – to look for work – to work hard to advance themselves and their society. When hard work and no work reap the same rewards, guess what? You get less hard work. When investments don’t produce an attractive return, guess what? You get fewer investments. And who suffers most when investments decline? Guess who? The very poor that she wants to help.
Even Communist China has given up on its Marxist/Socialist economy and has shifted to a hybrid-Capitalistic economic system ― offering significant financial returns to attract essential capital investments. They learned the hard way that even brute force (killing millions of their own people under Chairman Mao Zedong) will not produce a competitive economy and prosperous society. They and most other formerly Communist nations have shifted to hybrid Capitalism in imitation of the U.S. free-market, free-enterprise, Capitalistic, economic system. And guess what? It has significantly improved the living standards of their people.
Poor Sister Simone! She wants the government to rescue the poor, when only jobs and hard work in a flourishing, free-market, free-enterprise, competitive, Constitutional, Capitalistic economy can do that.
