I heard Peter King say that this year’s draft crop of quarterbacks was the most NFL game-ready he’s ever seen – high praise coming from one of the nation’s top analysts. After watching Russell Wilson, RG3, and Andrew Luck play like seasoned veterans this year, I agree.
Sunday’s last-second, come-from-behind Colts victory over the Lions was a masterpiece of guts and precision execution by Luck that would have done any veteran QB proud. Monday night was a treat to watch the resourceful Griffin give the Giants’ daunting defense fits. Even Ryan Tannehill has breathed new life into the Dolphins with his determined play … and these guys are only going to get better.
This was clinch weekend, with the Patriots, Broncos, Texans and Falcons all securing divisional titles. It is the earliest this has happened in a very long time, maybe ever. Perhaps parity isn’t as close as we thought. I’m 10-6 for the second week in a row, bringing my season tally to 118-58-1.
Here are the picks for Week Fourteen.
BRONCOS @ RAIDERS – Manning’s Broncos clinched last week. They’ll use Oakland this week for a punching bag. Orange crushes the Silver & Black attack.
RAVENS @ REDSKINS – Great game! Baltimore blew clinching to Pittsburgh last week, and Shanahan’s Skins may hold them off for another week in the Battle of the Beltway. Skins scalp.
COWBOYS @ BENGALS – Romo’s Rodeo runs into the teeth of the Tiger in Cincinnati. Bengals.
RAMS @ BILLS – The Rams lock horns with Buffalo in a good match up that nobody cares about. I like St. Louis in this one, even though the Buff is Tuff at home.
EAGLES @ BUCCANEERS – It’s never sunny in Philadelphia. Swashbucklers carve the birds.
FALCONS @ PANTHERS – Atlanta doesn’t want to lose any momentum at this point, especially to a lowly division rival. They won’t. Falcons soar.
CHIEFS @ BROWNS – KC got an “emotion win” from the tragedy that transpired there this week, and our hearts go out to those involved. But they’re not the Colts. Cleveland.
CHARGERS @ STEELERS – Steelers must have this win. SD is in disarray. Pittsburgh.
TITANS @ COLTS – Indy has proved they’re no flash in the pan. Their Luck continues to hold.
JETS @ JAGUARS – Can a team with no quarterback beat a team with no quarterback? Jags.
BEARS @ VIKINGS – A must-win for Da Bears. They’ll get it.
DOLPHINS @ 49ERS – Harbaugh wants closure so he can prep for the playoffs. He should get it this week, or else there will be serious misgivings about the caliber of his team. Miami has proven they’re not going to lay down for anyone. Niners in a tight one.
CARDINALS @ SEAHAWKS – The 49ers are hearing footsteps behind them. The Squawks
have beaten some VERY good teams this season. They should beat this not-very-good team at home easily.
SAINTS @ GIANTS – Both Breezy and Eli laid eggs this week. NY is trying to stay ahead of surging Washington and Dallas. The Saints are praying for a wild card slot. Giants, just.
LIONS @ PACKERS – The Cryons looked sooo sad after getting their bacon stolen in the last four seconds of the Colts game. I expect more of the same this week. Packers need the win.
TEXANS @ PATRIOTS – Clinchers clash in the AFC. Can anything stop JJ Watts? The Pats’ line is dinged and filled with replacements, which bodes ill for Tom Brady. Texans prove they’re the new sheriff in town.
Prayers out to KC, Crennel & the Chiefs. Enjoy the games!
