Christian Fashion Show: Slutty Does Not Mean Pretty

2b731056e21f44e8bdd96d594c8e0730Christian Fashion Week is being hosted this year in Tampa, Florida. The event is being organized by two couples whose message is simple: you can dress modestly and still be beautiful. Today, Saturday, is the runway show while yesterday was the VIP reception. The couples intentionally booked this event at the same time as the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York and hope that this is just the beginning of a much bigger franchise.

The Christian event has many differences from regular fashion shows. For example, there are separate changing rooms for males and females, the swimwear show will only have a female audience, and they will have Shari Braendel speak on the topic of modesty during intermission. Braendel also authored the book “Good Girls Don’t Have To Dress Bad.” Among the fashion designers, which are not all Christian but share a similar interest for modesty, the youngest is Julia Chew (18) who just graduated from homeschooling.

This is just another example of where Christians have seen a perverted art and have sought to redeem it for the glory of God.

What do you think? Should Christians get involved in modeling or is that too “fleshly”? More importantly, would you participate in it? Would you let your kids participate in it?
