NYC Pastor Jay Bakker: There Is No Hell, Being Gay Is Cool, Jesus Did Not Atone For Our Sins

NYC Pastor Jay Bakker- There Is No Hell, Being Gay Is Cool, Jesus Did Not Atone For Our SinsSon of televangelists Jim and Tammy Bakker, Jay has called himself an “evangelical punk preacher” and pastors Revolution Church NYC. He has recently released a book called Faith, Doubt, and Other Lines I’ve Crossed. The book is said to lean heavily on the character of God’s love and grace but barely at all on the justice or the veracity of Scripture. Indeed, this punk rock “pastor” claims the bible leaves enough wiggle room for homosexuality and somehow the God of the Bible did not really do what the Bible says He did.

In an interview with the Christian Post Bakker explains his view that sin is “when we miss the idea of loving others.” He goes on to state that the church has been completely wrong on their view of homosexuality, calling the gay movement a “civil rights issue.” Bakker believes pastors should be performing gay wedding ceremonies, marching with them, and even ordaining homosexuals into the Church.

Oh, and that whole Jesus-brought-us-back-to-God thing? That’s not true either.

What do you think? Is Bakker correct here? Are we too mean? Should we be more like Jesus?
