Only God Can Judge Me? That’s A Scary Thought
In a culture that is deathly allergic to individual responsibility and drunk on government dependency, we only give authority to God as the final judge of all our behavior. But really, no one believes that, they just use that as an excuse to not have someone else tell them that what they are doing is wrong. That’s why we love the phrase “only God can judge.”
Judgment, however, is the last thing you want to receive from a holy and just Yahweh. The whole point of having Jesus atone for your sins is that he received the judgment in your stead. He paid the price you could not pay, a debt He did not owe. Instead, Jesus is wrongfully quoted in Matthew 7:5 as essentially saying you can’t judge anyone. The verse reads: “You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” The second part of that verse implies that you are to help your brother to see better.
I advise you to fall under accountability, let your actions and your thoughts be judged by someone who is evidently walking in the light of Christ and they will act as His first line of defense before He has to release the hell hounds on your stupid backside just to get your attention.
