Rhetorical Dung and the Second Amendment

800px-Dung-heapThe gun-control debate has been fraught with hyperbolic rhetoric from those on the left who have labored feverishly to either circumscribe the Second Amendment, or bury it completely. Liberal blowhards such as B. Hussein Obama – while attempting to neuter the sacrosanct right to “bear arms” – promised that your “skeet shooting” and “hunting” will not be taken away.

Needless to say – this is nothing more than rhetorical dung.

The Second Amendment has nothing to do with “skeet shooting,” or any other type of recreational marksmanship. Instead, it is all about one thing: Self-defense.

Yes, the explicit (God given right) to not only defend you and your family against any and all miscreants who might kick in your front door at 2 A.M .– but also against a tyrannical and nefarious government which seeks to violently subjugate its citizenry.

Any attempts to mischaracterize, or otherwise vitiate the Second Amendment’s meaning is nothing more than liberal sermonizing designed to mislead the dumbest among us (usually registered Democrats).

Founding Father George Mason – while arguing the vital importance of the Second Amendment – stated that: “…to disarm the people–that was the best and most effectual way to enslave the people.”

Mason knew the reason Europe was a miasma of crime and tyranny was due to the disquieting fact that its citizens were not allowed to own guns.

The Father of our nation, George Washington, underscored the indispensable importance and role firearms have in our constitutional republic when he uttered the following words:  “A free people ought … to be armed”.

Manifestly our Forefathers were sage individuals who – unlike the liberal windbags that currently litter our political landscape – understood the importance guns play in the quest to uphold and maintain a free society.

So the next time some liberal debates gun-control (by proffering the same old tired bromides about skeet shooting) remind him that the “right of the people to keep and bear arms” has nothing to due with hitting a clay target. Instead, it’s all about hitting the SOB who just breached your front door, or the leader of a despotic government bent on enslaving you and your fellow countrymen.
