Chavez’s Death, Hollywood Liberals — and a Few Hollywood Conservatives

800px-Hugo_Chavez,_Oliver_Stone_66ème_Festival_de_Venise_(Mostra)_10With the death of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez this past week, actor Sean Penn (his biggest supporter in Hollywood) is in mourning. In fact, Sean Penn was such a Chavez fan that he advocated jail time for anyone who criticized Chavez (on a side note, Penn is also a supporter of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who in turn was also a Chavez supporter). Other celebrities who support Chavez include Danny Glover, Michael Moore, and Oliver Stone (they also support the Castro regime). And of course, who could forget Jane Fonda’s support for the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong, or Dennis Rodman’s visit to North Korea?

Obama said that he is not a dictator, but his actions speak otherwise. Despite his actions, various Hollywood liberals try to force people to support him, including Madonna, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Foxx, and Chris Rock.

But liberalism in Hollywood doesn’t stop with supporting dictators. Ashley Judd (who is considering running against Kentucky Senator McConnell next year) is involved with animals rights groups and is in favor of abortion. George Clooney once insulted the late Charlton Heston by saying that “the head of the NRA announced again today that he is suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease.” Clooney later stated that he did not regret making that remark. Heston responded by saying that “it’s funny how class can skip a generation, isn’t it?”

But don’t despair, because not all celebrities are liberals, even if they are not conservative on all issues. Aside from the late Charlton Heston, several celebrities are gun rights advocates. They include Chuck Norris, Ted Nugent, Tom Selleck, and Bo Derek. And when it comes to Hugo Chavez, actress Maria Conchita Alonso is the direct opposite of Sean Penn. In fact, she onced called Sean Penn a commie bastard at the airport. And then there is Stacey Dash, who was criticized for supporting Mitt Romney in this past election. And of course, who could forget Clint Eastwood’s empty chair act at the 2012 Republican Convention?

Some celebrity families are divided when it comes to politics. Alec Baldwin is a liberal, while his brother Stephen is a conservative (it’s unclear what the political views of their brothers William and Daniel are). Jessica Simpson was a Bush supporter, while her sister Ashlee is an Obama supporter (even participating in the “I Pledge” ad for Obama).

In conclusion, it would be best for celebrities to just entertain the public and not try to impose their political views. They should also revert to the days when Hollywood was patriotic.
