Huckabee: Evangelicals Will Leave GOP If It Backs Gay Marriage

Mike HuckabeeIn an interview with Newsmax TV, Governor Mike Huckabee said that evangelicals will “take a walk” if the GOP begins to endorse same sex marriage. Citing the recent flip-flop of Senator Portman, whose son came out as being gay, Huckabee gives the Senator respect and laud, but still kindly disagrees with the reason for his change of mind. The Governor states that it is a “mistake” that people will sometimes base their social stances on feelings and experiences rather than “from the standpoint of an objective standard.”

The Governor goes on to state that politicians are simply using this gay marriage agenda as a way to make it seem like the country is moving in a better direction, when in reality the standards for society have been dropped.

Do you agree with Huckabee? Is the GOP going to endorse same sex marriage in the near future? Will evangelicals stick around at that point?
