Ohio Teacher Fights For Intelligent Design In Court

Middle school teacher John Freshwater had been teaching for twenty years. In 2009, he was fired by the school district for engaging his students in conversation about his Christian beliefs, as well as refusing to remove the Bible from his classroom. Since then, Freshwater has had legal representation from The Rutherford Institute arguing his constitutional rights. He was also the facilitator, monitor, and supervisor of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Freshwater was claimed to have always been a "troublesome employee" who did not follow orders when it came to his Christian faith. When asked to remove all religious paraphernalia from his classroom, including a poster of the ten commandments and a poster of bible verses, he removed all of them except for his bible.
