Democrats’ Immigration Scheming: Messing With Texas

Don't Mess With Texas 2-02In 1980, Gov. Ronald Reagan was elected President of the United States in a landslide. Reagan’s electoral landslide was repeated with his re-election in 1984.

In both elections, Reagan captured the crucial electoral votes from the state of California.

In 1986, President Reagan misguidedly signed an immigration bill into law, legislation that would supposedly stem the flow of illegal immigrants into this country, while also granting amnesty to those who were already here.

The amnesty was granted. The flow of illegal aliens continues to this day. And following this legislation, the state of California would never again see its electoral votes go to a Republican presidential candidate.
Flash forward to today.

Once again, we see a well-meaning but misguided Conservative Republican named Marco Rubio, fiercely leading the effort to grant amnesty to illegal aliens, while also promising to stem the flow of illegal aliens into this country.

Joining him in this effort is Sen. Chuck Schumer, who is absolutely salivating over the idea of passing another immigration bill, thereby gaining millions of Democrat voters in the process.

However, the target of this legislation is not California.

This time, the goal is Texas.

“Don’t mess with Texas” is a popular motto in the Lone Star State, which is proudly emblazoned on cups, T-shirts, and bumper stickers.

Great state. Great slogan. Great sentiment.

However, this “path to citizenship” that Rubio and Schumer are discussing is nothing more than a blatant attempt by Washington Democrats to mess with the proud state of Texas.

In the race for the White House, the huge number of electoral votes from the state of Texas have consistently gone to the Republican candidate.

Democrats know this.

And this legislation is their attempt to drastically alter Texas politics, in much the same way that another amnesty movement shifted California’s electoral landscape.

Democrats in Washington know that this huge influx of Hispanic voters could very well shift the balance of power in the state of Texas, thereby causing this consistently red state to go blue in the next presidential election, and every one thereafter.

I have no doubt that Sen. Rubio’s efforts to pass this legislation are well-intentioned; I am equally certain that Sen. Schumer’s intentions are not!

Republicans are operating under the false impression that this amnesty legislation will finally convince Hispanic voters that they have nothing to fear from the GOP. Some mistakenly believe it will win them over to conservative values and ideals.

I’m certain Rubio believes this.

But what makes them think that another amnesty vote will necessarily change their electoral fortunes?

It certainly hasn’t made any difference with black voters.

Thanks to the critical votes of Republicans, who overrode the opposition of Democrats in passing the Civil Rights bill, blacks have been legally able to vote for many years.

Yet despite that fact, Democrats in Washington, aided by their slobbering lapdogs in the media, continue telling black voters that Republicans hate them.

No doubt the same thing will happen with this legislation.

Before the ink from the president’s signature has dried, Democrats in Washington and the media will be telling Hispanic voters that they still must fear those in the Republican Party.

Marco Rubio is an outstanding young man with a great personal story. However, on this one topic, Rubio is proving that he is much too naïve to be making deals with evil Chuckie.

Rule Number One in Washington is: If Schumer wants it, then you know it’s bad for America.

Rule Number Two is: Bright, young Conservative senators cannot change Rule Number One.

How many times are Republicans in Washington going to fall for the Democrats’ predictable bait-and-switch schemes?

Democrats promise spending cuts in return for tax increases. The tax increases happen first; the spending cuts never materialize.

Democrats promise to control the borders in return for amnesty. The amnesty happens first; the borders go unsecured.
