I’ve Fallen and I Can’t Get Up: Tawana Brawley
Of course no one could forget the case the helped Rev. Al Sharpton make his bones, in which 15 year-old Tawana Brawley was allegedly raped, smeared with feces and covered with racist slogans. Despite the fact that the “crime” was demonstrated to be a hoax, the race-baiting Rev has gone on to fame and fortune on the 24/7 televised nuthouse, MS-NBC. Ms. Brawley was not so lucky. Despite her efforts to avoid responsibility by fleeing to Virginia to avoid liability, she owes $431,492 to settle a defamation case won by former Dutchess County prosecutor Steven Pagones who was falsely accused of raping Ms. Brawley. Rev. Al managed to get others to satisfy the judgment against him. Ms. Brawley, not so much.
Then there are the scammers who aren’t motivated entirely by left-wing ideology, but who realize that phony “hate crime” claims not only won’t be challenged, but will in fact be celebrated and will help them get what they want. For example:

Minority Student Charged with Hate Crime at Trinity University
Chicago native Alicia Hardin, 19, an African American woman, was charged with a hate crime and disorderly conduct after confessing to sending three letters that contained racial slurs and threats against minority students at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois.
It turns out that this girl didn’t like Trinity University, but her parents wouldn’t let her change colleges, so naturally she figured what better way to persuade them than to fabricate evidence that the place was a racist hellhole, since the media would report that as fact?
So, what’s the takeaway from this most recent, and certainly not the last, leftwing hate crime hoax perpetrated by Ms. Lanker-Simons. Leftwing ideology is built on a foundation of lies, so, with respect to Jefferson, I paraphrase thus: it shouldn’t be surprising that the tree of leftism has to be frequently refreshed with an infusion of deception.
The surprising thing is that anyone takes these fables seriously anymore.
