Dear Christians: Abortion Is Not A Women’s Issue

The best fighting weapon we have in the course of arguing ideas is having your counterpart believe exactly what you believe while still under the illusion that they oppose you. This is exactly what the Left has done to the Christian community on the topic of abortion. What I mean is the brethren have increasingly adopted the Leftist notion that abortion is most importantly a women’s issue.

While abortion does affect women gravely, before the woman there are two persons the Church has sinfully overlooked, and it is because of our ignorance on this issue that the Left has been playing hacky-sack with our nation and the wombs of our sisters.

First, abortion is an abhorrent transgression against the living God. We forget that when an abortion occurs we have at least three transgressors: the murderer (the woman), the hired assassins (the abortion practitioner and their staff), and the accomplices (family or loved ones). All three have violated the sixth commandment and they are under the wrath of God.

This is a Scriptural fact that the Church does not take seriously and therefore, the world does not take us seriously. How many Christians have you heard say “abortion is murder”? Here’s the next question: should it be tried in a court of law as murder? Or are we too afraid to offend those who have already had an abortion?

It seems to me that “pro-life” Christians have begun to adopt the notion that a woman is only convicted of her abortion as murder after they become believers. If this were the case, why would we stand against any issue? Let’s just pray that God converts everyone so they may then feel convicted about murdering, stealing, adultery, and lying.

Second, abortion is a transgression against a person’s will to live. I wonder how many fetuses would give their parent the option of abortion. Have you ever wondered why the Left is so adamantly opposed against mandatory sonograms before an abortion procedure? Because they know the minute they show the woman the sonogram, it becomes real to them that the “condition” or “mistake” that is in their belly is actually a human being who is asking for nothing but life. At that moment, you are no longer “aborting,” you are killing.

Finally, abortion harms women physically and psychologically. Women have been lied to by the culture and by secularists into believing that sex has little to no consequence. Whatever consequence sex does have (i.e. a pregnancy) can be terminated and you can go on living life as if nothing happened. This is a lie from the enemy of our souls and we must make our young women well aware of that.

At the same time, scripture is clear on the shedding of innocent blood (Proverbs 6:16-17). It’s ironic how Christians will be so vengeful towards an abortion practitioner but they can see no wrong in their patients. Remember that women are not forced into abortion, the children are. Indeed, women who have undergone the horror of an abortion do need prayer, they do need counseling, and they need Jesus as much as the next person does, but the Church cannot ignore the fact that they willfully committed this crime.
