George Zimmerman and Getting By With Murder
If you’ve been following the news, no doubt you’ve heard about the George Zimmerman murder trial which just concluded in Florida.
If you consider ONLY the facts and the testimony in that case, you will see that a young man was killed, resulting from a tragic and unfortunate series of circumstances.
But George Zimmerman didn’t commit a murder.
However, while this trial was dominating our news 24-hours a day, there are other murders taking place that are largely unknown by the average American on the street.
The first murder I would like to see covered is the cold-blooded assassination of the Constitution by Barack Obama.
Ever since the man took office, Obama has shredded the Constitution, abused his power, and has committed any number of crimes, the likes of which forced Richard Nixon to resign.
The president has misused the powers of his office to spy on US citizens, instructed the IRS to target his opponents, and to wiretap the media.
And we still don’t know what the president was doing in the hours that his own hand-picked ambassador and three other good men were killed in Benghazi.
The second murder lost in the round-the-clock Zimmerman trial is the death of journalism.
Perhaps someone should alert the media: Freedom of the Press isn’t only one of the amendments in the Bill of Rights; it’s also a sacred trust, purchased with the blood of patriots and carried by all those who call themselves journalists.
Reporters should inform, not indoctrinate. Reporters should be embedded with the troops, not in bed with the administration.
America will also become a casualty if the media doesn’t uphold their obligation to be a watchdog of those in power. A reporter’s zeal for an investigation shouldn’t be influenced by the politics of those they are required to investigate.
The third murder lost amid the Zimmerman trial is the Capitol Hill massacre of the common man.
As we learned from Thomas Jefferson, “Governments are instituted among men, deriving their powers from the consent of the governed.”
Increasingly, the politicians of both parties no longer seek to represent those they initially claim to serve.
Sen. Joe Manchin (D.-WV) was elected by his constituents, largely due to his support of the NRA and the strength of his pro-gun reputation. However, less than a year after he took his throne in Washington, Manchin claims to be more enlightened than those he bamboozled.
