Rendering Unto Caesar — and Rendering and Rendering and Rendering ….

Caesar“Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s…” Matt. 22:21

These words spoken by Christ are part of the go to scripture for Christians making the moral case for taxation. America’s government was founded with the purpose to protect our lives, defend our liberties and to not tell us what our pursuit of happiness will or should be. We are no longer being ruled by a government that protects life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. We are living in an all intrusive nanny state: a government functioning far beyond the scope of its intended purpose. Caesar has become insatiable in his appetite for rendering. Always a reason, always a justification and as always it’s never enough.

“The things which are Caesar’s”, by implication, the logical consequence, means there are things which are not Caesar’s. Is there a time when we should stop rendering? Caesar does not give us the option of where our monies go; only that we must pay.

In St. Louis, at the request of Mayor Francis Slay, tax payers are footing the bill for rainbow lighting at the City Civil Courts and the gay flag being flown outside its City Hall. A reaction to the SCOTUS ruling on DOMA. Don’t hold your breathe waiting for the city to subsidize such a posting of the Ten commandments or a Nativity scene. Render unto Caesar.

Planned Parenthood has nothing to do with planning parenthood as the name implies. It is however based on the idea of ethnic cleansing, eugenics, and is supported by those rendering unto Caesar. Christians and those with some moral compass express outrage and picket with a sign in their right hand depicting an aborted baby in ruin while the left hand is still passing his portion to support this atrocity thus allowing our federal government to continue to do so. Do we believe we are absolving our culpability by protesting these most egregious activities while still funding it? Keep Rendering unto Caesar.

The liberals don’t have to like it, but it doesn’t change the fact we formed this Great Nation under the absolute moral authority of the Holy Scriptures. When we dispose of the precepts contained in the Ten Commandments we create a need for ten thousand laws. Under such a burden we will all be guilty of something, criminals of the state, beholden to our masters. Bills, thousands of pages long and going unread, are being passed into Law by our “representatives”. Our redress of these grievances continue to be ignored. Render more unto Caesar.

Independence Day is right around the corner. The revolutionary seeds were planted long before the signing of the Declaration when Britain began imposing unfair taxes on the colonies. Some revisionist history goes so far as to tell the story in a different light. A canvas full of pastels that depict Britain only wanting the additional taxes to improve security for the colonies, not unlike the story we hear from Caesar today. Our founders were not against government, however they were absolutely opposed to oppressive, tyrannical and immoral government. They were done rendering.

Ron Collins was born in '70. Raisin' chickens and shootin' groundhogs by 5. A little bit hillbilly, a little bit city boy, but always an unashamed and politically incorrect American. Best advice he took from his father: 'Find your heroes among American History not Hollywood or the sports arena.'
