I Agree With John Fugelsang: We Are Not A Christian Nation

He also mentioned how Jesus was “outrageously liberal,” would not advocate public prayer, and would have been a supporter of “women’s rights.” Granted, the gospel ushered in a new era for women seeing as how the first two people that Christ entrusted with the word of his resurrection were women. This was in an age where a dog’s testimony was more valid in court than a woman’s.

However, since what most liberals mean by “women’s rights” is actually abortion, then we should also look at what Jesus said about such matters. With the woman at the well in John chapter 4, he convicts her for living with a man that is not her husband. He also warns folks that if anyone stops a child from getting to Him (Matthew 18:6), it would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied to their neck. But never mind those scriptures, Jesus is cool with women having sex freely and scraping children out of their wombs.

The problem is that sinners will take the scripture and bleach it, twist it, and conform it to their own image so that the Word of God becomes more palatable. Even we, as Christians, do that to a certain degree, admit it. But I have to say, it’s a little annoying when liberals will take a scripture they don’t believe in, or agree with, and purport themselves to be a greater authority of it over ministers and even believers.

I will not disagree with Fugelsang, however, that we are not a Christian nation. Far from it ,actually, because a Christian nation does not kill innocent children, steal from working folk to give to unemployed to the point of encouraging sloth, or condone homosexuality. So, yeah, Fugelsang, Jesus should run for president, but I don’t think He will be the kind of leader you expect Him to be. Honestly, I don’t think I can fathom the leader He will be.
