Would I Ever Vote Pro-Choice To ‘Save’ The Economy? Never.

I’ve been asked several times recently, a couple of them on the radio in round-a-bout ways, if I agreed that the social matters in our nation needed to take a backseat to what others feel is a more important and crucial issue in our country– the economy.  I would largely agree that many of the social issues aren’t nearly as important as the current crisis we are facing as a nation.  But, I want to go on the record as saying that I do not believe abortion is one of those.

Strangely, everyone who asks the question or takes that stance has already made it safely out of what has become the most dangerous location in our country…a mother’s womb.  Their necks are no longer exposed to the scalpel and their limbs in no danger of being chopped off for easier removal.  They are too large to fit into the glass jars that many abortionist seem to collect as mementos.  So, I guess they feel that it’s a safe stance to take.

I will never pull the lever on a pro-choice candidate.  I will never sacrifice the value of life on the alter of economy. Period.  We, as American citizens, are guaranteed the right to (first and foremost) LIFE,  (followed by)Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.  Without the guaranteed protection of life…all other liberties are irrelevant.

The topic of life…abortion and infanticide…transcends that of politics.  It boils down to your personal level of human decency.  Meanwhile, over 4,000 dead babies a day pile up while we debate the importance of the topic.

To Conservatives who would argue this point, I speak directly to you.  Since when can we not defend more than one principle that is precious to us at the same time?  And, if we are being honest, when did the two really become separate since we are financing the mother of this death culture, Planned Parenthood, at the rates of hundreds of millions of dollars.  In fact, a GAO report showed:

Planned Parenthood abortion business reported spending over $650 million in federal funds over a seven year period. That averages to just under $100 million in federal funds each year and is something pro-life groups and lawmakers on Capitol Hill want to see ended…

The report also shows the pro-abortion group Population  Council, which sponsored the dangerous abortion drug RU 486,  received $284.3 million in federal funds as well for its  international family planning efforts.  And the Guttmacher  Institute, a pro-abortion group that does research on abortion statistics, received $12.7 million.

Advocates for Youth, another pro-abortion group,  received $8.7 million from the federal government and the  International Planned Parenthood Federation received $3.9  million.

Combined, the pro-abortion organizations received  more than $1 billion in taxpayer dollars from the federal  government over the 2002-2009 period GAO analyzed.

Do those numbers wake up any of you “fiscal-minded-only” conservative voters?

Let’s go one step further and analyze not only how “wrong” this particular way of thinking is, let’s discuss how utterly unwise of a strategy it really is.  One thing that the Democrats are good at is knowing their audience.  They have the data to prove who their potential voters are and they use it wisely.  We don’t need a ton of data to understand that the Christian Conservatives are probably the largest voting block in the Republican party.

Desperate Republicans who are so eager to sell out their convictions for a handful of votes are willingly blind to the fact that staying silent on one of the greatest atrocities of our generation may garner them a handful of Independent votes.  Meanwhile, for every vote that they get in through the front door, dozens of Christian Conservatives who are passionate about the issue of life are fleeing out the back door.

Science is progressing everyday.  And, thankfully, so is the conscience of America.  Gallup just recently conducted an eye opening poll.  61% of American  adults—including some who describe themselves as “pro-choice”—told  Gallup in a survey conducted May 5-8 that abortion should be illegal in  all or most circumstances.

Liberalism is a cesspool of death and devaluing of life. The painful annihilation of a human life has now been demonically altered into a “blessing of choice.“  A message has been sold in which wrong has become right and right has become wrong.

We are better than this. Our party is better than this.  And we do NOT have to sell out in order to win.

In closing, I leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Holocaust survivor, Elie Weisel

“I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”
