FINAL DESTINATION: ISIS Members Might Be Surprised

Most of the characters I draw in cartoons are people I’ve seen somewhere. Or slight mutations thereof. Or what I thought some character from a novel (without illustrations …my least favorite sort) looked like. The fellow at the desk in this cartoon could be a teller in Telson’s Bank or some malevolent French bureaucrat in A Tale of Two Cities. They’re like friendly ghosts that follow my psyche around from childhood. Sounds metaphysical, doesn’t it? But it isn’t. I like these guys… and the way they look. They save me mental energy. I don’t have to constantly dream up new faces.

Those guys in the recent cartoon about being “Buried With Bacon” are some pirates from somewhere. Or some other characters known for their cowardice.

The best thing about cartooning is the drawing part. But other parts are fun, too. For example, reading the “comments” from folks who see my cartoons on Clashdaily.com or Eaglerising.com. The best comments are from liberals who attempt to appear “fair and balanced” so as to strengthen their credibility when they finally shove the shiv in just below my bottom false rib. They betray their real nature by little things like those people who email me asking if I could take them on as a client and help them execute a judgment against their rogue foreign spouse who is making millions in Las Vegas and ignoring their divorce decree in Japan. You always notice something funny, like their strange English grammar, their eagerness to get you anything you need to get things going…except, of course, their sending a retainer fee.

These liberal/phony conservatives do silly things like make asides about “my other buddies, like Limbaugh”, when I wasn’t writing or drawing about Limbaugh. These jerks just assume I am a “Ditto-head” because they think Limbaugh is the personification of evil and, therefore, I must be a “buddy of Limbaugh.”

It’s like a recent string of comments responding to an Ann Coulter article I saw. Two commenters went back and forth for a while until the liberal got frustrated and moved away from the facts on which the argument was based and asked “How come Ann Coulter never got married?” That, as you can imagine, settled THAT argument, which had not concerned anybody’s marital status. As typical with liberals, these guys can stretch stupidity to hitherto unseen levels, which is old news. But, I’m honored that at least a few liberal/socialists have noticed me and hate me. It’s fun. They get tweaked so easily.

Another fun fact about my cartoons and puny essays is the caveat from the editor of one of those hip, up to date, perspicacious, cool, politically perceptive and brilliant websites noted here above. The caveat states my stuff may include “satire.” How can that be…when I don’t even what “satire” is. Is it edible, smokeable, potable?

Steve Bowers

Steve Bowers grew up on a farm in Indiana, attended Indiana University and went into the construction business. While working on a construction project at a law school he was appalled at how lawyers could screw stuff up on a simple building project. Thinking he could do better, Steve went to law school. He’s pretty naive.
