CELEBRATING WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH: Honoring Conservative Ballot Box Warriors

In nearly every conservative home in America at its core there is a vibrant heart and soul of a mom who is a guiding light for the family’s security and safety. As Women’s History Month concludes these female ballot box warriors can be found protesting against issues which destabilize and often contaminate the essence of their family’s conservative core values.

They are on guard in PTA meetings fighting for local control and against Common Core’s negative Washington influence. These family standard bearers are supporting religious beliefs for prayer in public schools, traditional marriage and ensuring the right to life and freedom from terrorism which is coming across our nation’s border.

What does being a ballot box warrior truly mean for a mom whose efforts are often lost in the front page headlines of terrorist attacks in nation’s far away from their kitchen tables? What is certain is that the daily headlines are having an increased impact on their children, their spouses and the very safety of their community. The ballot box is one of the weapons millions of conservative women have and are using.

Safety for the women who live current history each and every moment of each and every day may not find life and its challenges recorded on the pages of historical documents and newspapers. It is not that historians and journalists do not care, but there is no physical way to measure how a mom has to tackle the knowledge that illegal aliens permitted in America by Obama could bring with them disease, violence and increased budgetary burdens on their local community.

The harsh reality is that the enemy within definition has changed dramatically since Obama took the oath of office in January of 2009. He has made once cherished Christian religious values an offense against the minority of atheists and Muslim followers of Islam. His administration has made vigorous attempts to marginalize conservative family values like traditional marriage, reading the Bible in school and even prayer has become a forbidden practice. His presidency and his administration is the enemy within.

The ballot box has become even more instrumental and necessary than ever before. Just take a look at the results of the 2010 and 2014 mid-term elections. Conservative political action is being stepped up and the women leaders who are protecting conservative values are Sarah Palin, Nikki R. Haley Governor of South Carolina , Susana Martinez Governor of New Mexico, Kelly Ayotte U.S. senator from New Hampshire, and Congresswoman Mia Love along with many, many others.

Just as crucial to the protection of hearth and home are the millions of unknown and unnamed conservative women whose battleground is their home and their block and their community. The battle ground has now become so personal and so immediate that each woman, be she a mom, grandmother, aunt, sister, neighbor or friend, now has a stake in changing the rules of political issue engagement in defending America.

Now, they are fighting to preserve the right of the unborn to life, or assuring that the 2nd Amendment is protected or that ISIS or Al Qaeda terrorists do not gain a foothold on American soil. You can read and follow the battle as it is being fought on social media pages, in home gatherings and in community meeting rooms.

This is the type of celebration that Women’s History Month should be celebrated for. What has changed is that history is not so much remembering all of the wonderful immeasurable deeds like that of suffragist Susan Anthony. According to the RNC, Anthony fought to secure women’s right to vote, and famously defied the law to cast her ballot—for Republicans—in 1872.

Nor is it just about honoring women like Margaret Chase Smith, the first woman to be elected to both the House and the Senate. It is equally important about the new generation of conservative ballot box warriors who are not being told whom they should support from leaders in Washington.

Instead, these are the women who live in history’s moment who are telling the leaders in Washington what issues they want worked on and whether or not their stay in office will be terminated if they do not reflect the traditional values that keep each of these conservative ballot box warriors and their families safe and secure.

America has always been defended by woman of courage, conviction and personal sacrifice and certainly now is no different than it was in the times of the nation’s founding fathers. Of course as Women’s History Month comes to a close it is important that the essential ingredients of the menu that woman prepare daily for their family’s security be examined, valued and appreciated.
