ISLAM: The Original ‘He-Man Woman Haters Club’
Ah, the innocence of youth (which has methodically been disintegrated by the entertainment industry, but I digress)…the days of the original Little Rascals (aka Our Gang), where boys and girls found that each other had the dreaded cooties. And where the boys, in a determination to regain and retain their power, established the “He-man Woman Haters Club”.
But, truth be told, the original Club was established 1,400 years ago…
Islam, and its prophet, had a bit to say about women. As a matter of fact, there are 177 verses in the Quran (and Hadiths) that have the word “women” in them, and none of them paint a pretty picture. Here’s a sample:
— Translation of Sahih Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 54, Number 464: Narrated Imran bin Husain: The Prophet said, “I looked at Paradise and found poor people forming the majority of its inhabitants; and I looked at Hell and saw that the majority of its inhabitants were women.”
— The Quran in Sura 4:11 says: “The share of the male shall be twice that of a female…”
— Translation of Sahih Bukhari: Volume 3, Book 48, Number 826: Narrated Abu Said Al—Khudri: The Prophet said, “Isn’t the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?’ The women said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘This is because of the deficiency of a woman’s mind.’ ”
— Qur’an (4:34) – “Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.”
— Qur’an (38:44) – “And take in your hand a green branch and beat her with it, and do not break your oath…”. Allah telling Job to beat his wife (Tafsir).
— Sura (2:222) “They ask thee concerning women’s courses. Say: They are a hurt and a pollution: So keep away from women in their courses, and do not approach them until they are clean.”
— Sura 4:43 “Muslims, draw not near unto prayer…(if) ye have touched women…then go to high clean soil and rub your face and your hands.” (Muslim women are pariahs and dirty).”
— Sura (5:6) – “…if ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it.”
In the case of The Little Rascals, they formed the He-Man Woman Haters Club, because…being prepubescent boys, they saw girls as the “enemy” (that is unless your name is Alfalfa and a girl named Darla winked at you). But detestation was never in their innocent hearts…
On the other hand, in the case of Islam…hate for women IS indeed in their hearts and minds, because that’s how Muhammed viewed women. And a wink from a girl…could quite possibly anger some Muslim men to commit rape, and perhaps even move some to murder (honor killing) in order to remove the “stain” the woman has brought upon her family, by provoking the rape.
Little boys eventually get over their opposition to girls and withdraw from the Club. But as far as Muslim men go? They have been carrying their membership cards since the 7th century…and don’t plan on relinquishing them any time soon.
