NUT-JOBS! California Professors Support Banning American Flag
America. Simply an amazing country to live in, and if you are blessed, to have been born in. To be a citizen of the United States is a true gift from God. A place where a soul is free- instituted by the rights our founding fathers crafted so thoughtfully for their people. A plan of virtues to live by that ensured that for generations to come, we would have freedom and liberty.
Our American flag has been more than just a flag that waves atop of government buildings and sports events. She is a symbol of safe harbor and opportunity. She represents the men and women who have died protecting her right to wave high above the masses and has draped the coffins of those who have paid the ultimate price for her survival.
Red, white, and blue, are the colors she dawns with stars and stripes majestic and bold. These colors don’t run even when she is burned. When I was a child, my parents taught me to never let her touch the ground and to handle her with care, giving our flag respect for all it embodied. Saying the pledge of allegiance is just a token of what this flag means to Americans. Songs have been written in her honor and poems have expressed deepest gratitude for there is no better place on earth to live than the United States of America.
As amazing as America is, there are still people that exist that don’t share my sentiments. There are American citizens who are in the mindset that America is vile. That we are the cause of world wars and slavery. That we are thieves in the night stealing land, resources, and occupying territories for things like oil. Our economic and military power have been the subject of jealousy and envy by our enemies. That somehow America has never helped any nations even though we give billions upon billions in foreign aid every single year. Without America, whole countries would cease to exist entirely.
Last week, the University of California Irvine’s student government association decided they were going to be bold and ban the American flag from the campus lobby. The reasoning they gave was “cultural inclusivity”, or in plain terms, to be politically correct. Students claimed that, “The American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism.” This, of course, right out of the playbook of progressive group think and really isn’t a new narrative for the left. YAWN.
One of the students even claimed that the very site of the American flag might make a person want freedoms by saying, “flags construct paradigms of conformity and sets homogenized standards for others to obtain which in this country typically are idolized as freedom, equality, and democracy.”
Who in their right mind wouldn’t want freedom, equality, and democracy? Why do you think people are dying to come here? It’s because the place they are trying to escape from was most likely a terrible place to be. Countries with dictatorships, oppression, abuse, murdering of its citizens, intimidation tactics, America is seen as a refuge from the atrocities of other countries.
The American flag represents a bright beacon through the darkest of hours for the “tired, poor, and huddled masses” yearning for a better way of life. The thousands of legal immigrants that become American citizens each year appreciate the sacrifices America has had to make to uphold the Constitution and want to assimilate because they have worked so hard to earn it.
The decision to ban the American flag has been overturned, for now. A group of at least 60 nutty professors have signed a letter showing support for the banning of the American flag. Their reasoning? “US nationalism often contributes to racism and xenophobia.” It’s amazing what looking at a flag can actually do to people! It can make you afraid of foreigners and give you the racist bug! Who knew?
Thankfully there is a group of lawmakers in California that are working on a bill that would stop any publicly funded university from banning any more American flags. It would be really cool to start a program where citizens could take their money and help pay for these American hating idiots’ one way tickets to Iran or Iraq. They wouldn’t last a day before they were asking for a new pair of underwear and a plane to come pick them up and bring them home. Now THAT is something I could get behind! You hate America? Get out, and let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!
