HUMAN BODY PARTS FOR SALE: Keep Your Liberalism Off My Organs

I bet the great satirist Jonathan Swift would appreciate my idea, but I give Planned Parenthood credit for inspiring it. My commonsense initiative all starts with a simple question — when is it morally correct to harvest human body parts, and why is it illegal to sell them?

Hospitals harvests the body parts of dead people every day. However, unlike aborted babies, traditional suppliers (a.k.a. people like you and I) are allowed to live. While they are alive they voluntarily decide to donate their own body parts to the demand. Most of these individual suppliers willingly agree to provide their parts upon death — which of course is never sped up by abortion. Consequently, waiting for these suppliers to die takes time. Planned Parenthood, on the other hand, operates more like hog farmers who hasten their harvest by killing their farm stock. Planned Parenthood, however, is killing innocent and developing human beings.

Meanwhile, the other type of traditional supplier voluntarily provides an organ while they are still alive. This means no one needs to kill them to get the organ quickly.

However, only suppliers who are willing to sell body parts in the industry’s thriving black market receive the going rates for what their organs are worth. In 2008, National Geographic produced an interesting documentary on the world’s booming underground commerce of human body parts trafficking.

Despite the emotional arguments against selling body parts, what is irrefutably immoral is that law-abiding suppliers and their families are prohibited from profiting in this bustling industry. What is ethical about forcing people to give away their body parts if they are willing to supply them?

Wouldn’t more people willingly part with a kidney right now if they or their families could profit from such a transaction? I know I would.

In fact, the late Mr. Swift and other great minds like Thomas Sowell agree with me — to a point.

Just imagine how American capitalism would perfect this trade by making it transparent and open. Think about it. Wouldn’t our Gross Domestic Product skyrocket?

Making the sale of human body parts legal would irrefutably be a moral and pragmatic remedy for many of our society’s problems.

Talk about a real pro-choice issue. Who are you to prevent others from benefiting off their willingness to help people waiting for organs?

Like everything else, human body parts are all about supply and demand. Currently, the worldwide demand far exceeds the supply — driving up the costs for organs on the black market. Opening the market to more motivated and law-abiding suppliers would offer amazing opportunities to America and make body parts and organs more affordable.

In fact, in the United States alone there are more than 120,000 people on organ transplant waiting lists. Every day nearly 21 people die because the supply of organs is insufficient. This problem would be wiped out overnight if our pious politicians would simply remove the barriers for selling body parts.

Social justice crusaders and other self-righteous liberals might object that rich people on these waiting lists would have an “unfair” advantage if we put body parts in the free market. But rich people already have an advantage. If they are willing to break the law, they can buy body parts on the black market where altruistic liberals at Planned Parenthood are niche suppliers.

Furthermore, thanks to Planned Parenthood, here is the clever part of my proposal. Unlike the 58 million unborn babies killed by abortions since 1973, death-row inmates deserve to die. Why don’t we just send them to a surgeon right now?

Almost everyone who supports Planned Parenthood and abortion will undoubtedly be on board. Granted, there will always be a few hand wringers on the left, but most liberals are truly ruthless.

When society’s killers literally begin paying for their crimes, even some abortion-supporting hand wringers will have to wise up.

Selling the organs of murderers could help pay for the cost of imprisoning the dregs of society — or we could simply ensure that these specific organs are used to provide indigent Americans on the organ waiting list with the part they need. Why in the world haven’t we been harvesting the body parts of death-row criminals before now?

Isn’t all of this just common sense?

If hand-wringing liberals are appalled by my swift idea, couldn’t we just call executions “abortions”? I mean criminals cannot survive in a jail cell on their own, right? Perhaps the Supreme Court could make the new definition official. That ought to satisfy some of the sanctimonious bleeding hearts on the left.

Furthermore, my idea would also provide an immediate solution for prison overcrowding. If killers come to prison with health problems like high cholesterol or obesity, we would simply delay their operations until they complete a rigorous workout and healthy diet program. Upon completion, they would be whisked off to see the surgeon.

Once the prisoners are ultimately aborted, all their other usable organs and parts would be shipped off to the market, or to a poverty-stricken recipient. It would be a lot like what Planned Parenthood has been doing, only legal, moral, and logical.

It seems pointless to try to explain the difference between murdering an unborn child and aborting a murderer as punishment for his crime. Normal people instinctively get it.

Nevertheless, we do not need to limit my plan for voluntary suppliers to Americans or our involuntary suppliers on death row. Another part of my more idea includes recruiting illegal aliens. What red-blooded American wouldn’t consider offering legal residency to an illegal alien willing to donate a healthy lung to an American in need? Few acts of sacrifice are more patriotic than that.

Our military members volunteer to sacrifice much more than organs and limbs. We should extend this opportunity for illegal aliens to sacrifice for America by donating organs to our citizens. Now, this would be a serious argument for a pathway to meaningful immigration reform.

The benefits seem endless really. Once we take care of everyone in America, we could market our supply to China where almost two million people need organs. An American supply of body parts would be one way to reduce our demoralizing debt to the Chinese government. If illegal aliens chipped in their organs, we would probably be on the road to recovery in no time.

And don’t forget about all the tax revenue my plan would generate. Name one blood-sucking politician who wouldn’t support that.

Although I’m suggesting we create a new supply of body parts, I’m also saying it’s literally time for America to come together. You need to contact your representative today. The current value for your kidney is at least $10,000.
