KISS THEM GOODBYE: Traditional Democrats Need To Stop Voting For Their Anti-American Party

When I was growing up my dad gave me one piece of political advice. He said, “Always vote Democrat. The Republicans are for the ‘rich people’ and we ain’t rich.” That’s it. That was his mindset. We were the typical working class family. My dad was a mailman and my mom was a switchboard operator at the local hospital. They worked very hard to provide for the five children they raised and truly believed that the Democratic Party was on their side.

Recently I got into a conversation with a frustrated person that was over 70 years old. She specifically told me that she is not going to vote anymore, even though she voted her entire life. She said nothing changes. Things just get worse. She ranted a bit about how when she was growing up marriage was between a man and a woman. Boys were boys and girls were girls! People just knew this stuff! She mentioned that abortions were unheard of. She said people knew to get married before they had sex. If they slipped up, nobody was bragging about it. Weddings were going on all the time.

The rant went on for a bit and profanity may or may not have been used, but she was clearly fed up. Little did she know, she was ripping the Democratic Platform to shreds. She missed those traditional values she grew up on and sees those slipping away.

Then she said something really interesting. She said “And I am not voting for Hillary!”

So I say, well, of course not, you just bashed the entire Democratic Platform. Why would she even consider Hillary? She said Hillary is the worst. I agreed and told her that it’s astonishing to me she is still in the race at all. Then I mentioned that there are some good candidates running this time. She said that all those Republicans are for the rich people! I can’t vote for them either. Now that sounds familiar to me. My dad and his friends felt just like that and just assumed it was truth. I wonder if he would think so now. I wonder how many other voters feel like this too. I suspect this might be a theme.

Seems to me that too many jump to the conclusion that if someone is doing well financially, they must be greedy or they obtained the wealth dishonestly. Why are we so quick to jump to this conclusion? Is it this “money thing” that keeps some people still voting for the Democrats?

When Mitt Romney was running against Barack Obama, I heard the same thing. Romney is for the rich. Wouldn’t Obama be considered rich? How about Hillary? Mitt Romney continually down played his wealth during his campaign, more than likely because he knows that now doing financially well in the United States is considered evil or greedy. Why is that? Do we ever get jobs from poor people? Doesn’t it benefit the entire country when creative people who know how to produce and create goods and services are let loose to create jobs for people who need them and won’t create them for themselves? Do we want Washington dictating the cash flow or do we want to put the control back into the hands of the American people?

Many wealthy are hard-working, motivated, creative, caring people. They have families too and genuinely love to see others succeed. Many are willing to share the principles of successes with interested people and many even write books about it. I am so sick of hearing that all rich people are evil and greedy or “money goes to money!” That is simply not true. Whether we choose to be a job creator or get our job from one of these creators, America won’t prosper under policies that create a mentality that is dependent on government handouts and government control. The money will run out no matter how many rich people are “taught not to be so greedy!”

If this is your hang-up with the Republican Party, I encourage you to look into things more closely. You may come to the conclusion that being wealthy isn’t evil and might actually like some of these candidates. The traditional values that our country was founded on are clearly a thing of the past according to the Democratic Platform. I am well aware that some Republicans are not as traditional as they appear, but the Republican Platform is not entirely in the toilet at this time. Some of the people may be, but the platform still holds to traditional values and a free market economy.

The traditional Democratic Party that our parents loved is a thing of the past. Let it go!
