Liberals Compare Capital Punishment to HITLER — Have They Gone INSANE?
Sometimes liberal logic is fascinating, painful really. It’s not often that I get to turn on the nightly news given my two young children. Current affairs and world events are not necessarily something I want my little ones to see just yet and I find it difficult to stay up late enough to catch the 10 o’clock news. But the other night, I got to see the local news where they were discussing the state of capital punishment in Oklahoma.
There has been a lot of debate around Oklahoma on this topic the last few months given a couple of problematic executions, so essentially there has been a stay on these executions until they can get the difficulties worked out. This, of course, is fuel to the fire for those who are against capital punishment.
During the news broadcast I saw, the liberal who had the platform was comparing capital punishment and those who endorse it to Adolf Hitler and his execution of 6 million Jews. This to me was liberal logic at its finest. Whether you believe in capital punishment or not, this is not an argument that works. It is simply a ploy to play off the emotions of compassionate people, people who aren’t thinking for that matter.
You cannot compare the execution of a capital offender, who has been found guilty through due process of law, to the mass execution of innocent men, women, and children. The death sentence of the former is being carried out on a guilty individual because of that person’s actions. The later death sentence was carried out on countless people based off of the person’s race. You simply cannot compare the two.
So the next time you are watching the news or reading some blog over the internet: stop, think, and then decide for yourself whether or not the argument for or against an issue makes sense. The liberal who had the microphone that night didn’t convince me, but I’m sure he did convince a lot of other people.
