Why Were There NO CRIES for Gun Control Following the 9/11 Attack?
It has been a rough week for the people of Orlando, Florida. First, a terrorist attack at Pulse (a gay nightclub), which was carried out by Omar Mir Seddique Mateen. Then a two-year-old boy by the name of Lane Graves was killed by an alligator near a Disney World resort. Both incidents have spurred a serious of debates over Islamic extremism, how much Mateen’s wife knew about his intentions, prejudice towards gays and lesbians, gun control, Disney World not doing enough to warn people about alligators, and Florida officials not dealing with the alligator problem (there are over a million alligators in Florida).
Amidst the debates, gun control appears to be the main topic in the aftermath of the Orlando terrorist attack, just as it was in the case in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012, as well as last year’s shootings at a church in South Carolina, a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana, an abortion clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and of course the terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California.
So apparently it makes no difference to liberals if any mass shooting turns out to be a terrorist attack carried out by jihadists. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut) proved that when he managed to conduct a filibuster for nearly fifteen hours.
Question # 1: Were there calls for gun control legislation in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor?
Answer: No. In fact, the Japanese were well aware of the Second Amendment, which is why they chose not to invade the United States, because they knew just about every American owned a gun.
Question # 2: Were there calls for gun control legislation in the aftermath of 9/11?
Answer: No. Since the terrorists relied on airliners (and box cutters) to kill around 3,000 people, liberals (in their view anyway) could not blame the Second Amendment. In fact, most people who did not own a gun considered buying one.
Thus, it is complete nonsense to advocate gun control legislation after a terrorist attack. Terrorists will always find a way to get a gun.
Of course, calls for more gun control legislation go hand-in-hand with political correctness, since the authorities do not like to use terms like “jihadist”. Instead, they prefer to look at this terrorist attack as a hate crime.
Since the Obama Administration is fond of both gays and Muslims, my question is this: if the gays clashed with the Muslims on any given day, whom would the Obama Administration side with?
