The Never Trump crowd have taken their lumps. They’ve been called to task about their views, have been branded establishment and all the rest.
But if you remember, the objection was pretty straightforward. lt was some form of “the guy cannot be trusted to represent conservative values. “
Well, Trump fans… now is your chance to answer the bell & come to your guy’s defense.
Here is the question he was asked: “But is it your position if you’re on that terror watch list, if you’re on that no fly list that you should not be able to buy a gun?”
“I’d like to see that, and I’d like to say it. And it’s simpler. It’s just simpler.”
I’m gonna let you guys try and figure out how to bail out Trump on this one. I’ve got nothing. This is exactly the kind of issue that I couldn’t trust him with. lt’s what made me prefer the other guy.
“R” after his name or No, his instincts are still leftish. Americans on the no-fly list, or terror list can’t buy guns?
You already have a government where the IRS targets political rivals, and the DOJ is selectively prosecuting law breakers. And you want to put the 2nd Amendment right in the hands of these guys?
This is the same govt that has put muslims into the NASA mandate. The same people that cannot discern flag-waving patriot from bomb-chucking terrorist.
And you are making the case that you could have rights REVOKED at the stroke of some bureaucrat’s pen? Which other right would you leave to the whim of some anonymous desk jockey?
A judge has to sign a warrant before the cops can enter you home. Why? A check on gov’t powers. You have to be found guilty by your peers before you have your liberty revoked. Same reason.
Why is this such a bad idea? Because if he does push this forward, he has given the Democrats everything they need to strip guns from lawful owners, or at least harass them and put them out of business.
Imagine if the completely neutral IRS “leaked” tax information for people who contributed to the NRA. Then you put them on a list, and they’ve completely bypassed any due process.
My big question for Trump and his supporters: what is your reaction to these statements? Are you going to be dialing them back?
