The details about the Dallas snipers who killed 5 officers are still not being revealed, except for one of them who is now dead. Here’s what we know so far:
DALLAS — Mayor Mike Rawlings has confirmed 12 police officers were shot and five were killed in an attack by snipers in downtown Dallas at a peaceful protest of officer-involved shootings across the country on Thursday night. Two civilians were also shot during the attack.
The suspect has been identified as Micah X. Johnson, a resident of Mesquite.
“We’ve got a criminal investigation going on and our number one job is to make sure the citizens of Dallas are safe,” Mayor Rawlings said Friday morning.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown said one suspect is dead after a long standoff with police. Negotiations were underway when Brown says Johnson told police he was angry over #BlackLivesMatter and was mad at white people.
He wanted to kill white people, especially white officers, Brown said.

Details about the incident remain murky as of Friday morning, but current reports indicate snipers opened fire on Dallas police officers using rifles, and at least three have been taken into custody. More suspects may be at large.
Dallas Police Department Chief David Brown told reporters on Thursday morning the shooters were “working together with rifles, triangulating at elevated positions in different points in the downtown area where the march ended up going.”
