Republicans ‘SHOCKED’ By Trump’s Vulgar Words … But Conveniently ‘Forget’ Three Things

Given that I am a woman and that Donald Trump’s latest crisis concerns women, I thought I’d weigh in on the current media drama surrounding the vile comments made by Mr. Trump eleven years ago. Although, knowing the American public, by the time this author’s opinion hits the web, everything will have blown over.

While the media gasps in horror at the lewd, abhorrent, disgusting rantings of the Republican presidential candidate as if it were a huge shock; and while the Republican establishment hopes to salvage their reputations by retracting their endorsements, I have three thoughts that I think might be helpful as we process this latest foul-mouth speech of Mr. Trump.

First, let me begin with these questions: When did the American public get a moral conscience? When did we decide that morality was of great concern to us? We don’t have to look that far back, President Bill Clinton, to see that we don’t hold our elected officials to any kind of moral standard; we never have really. If we look back at our history, we see that there are several American presidents that had known extramarital affairs: Thomas Jefferson, Warren Harding, FDR, Dwight D. Eisenhower, JKF, LBJ, and the husband of the current Democratic Presidential Candidate. And, these are just the improprieties that we know about. There are many more speculations.

Not to mention, that currently we think nothing of sexual immorality on any spectrum. We teach “safe sex” to our school children verses the Biblical standard of purity. We celebrate same gender marriage as the great accomplishment of our day. Certainly, no one is as backwards as my husband and I who did not live together before we got married. Let’s face it: Biblical morality as it concerns sexual issues is not our strength as a nation.

Second, it shocks me that the Republican establishment is suddenly pulling endorsements to somehow save their own reputations and political carriers. It’s too little too late, my friends. They should have thought of that months ago when everyone had a chance to promote a moral champion like Ted Cruz but did not. We could have picked from any of the dozen candidates that stood before us debate after debate after debate and found a saint compared to Donald Trump in the area of moral integrity. Yet, our conservative leaders were cowards. Their silence sided with the liberal media, who did everything they could to tear down a strong candidate with impeccable character (not perfect, of course) and support a weak, morally depraved candidate. I find it hypocritical for our conservative elected officials to stand with mouths agape as if this latest revolting information about Trump was shocking.

And finally, what does this have to do with the issues at hand? Don’t get me wrong, I find Donald Trump contemptible and utterly disgusting. His loathsome rantings are an embarrassment to the nation and completely offensive to both women and men (No man would want someone to talk that way about his wife or daughter so I imagine most morally compassed men are equally offended) alike. However, our choices are between a socialist who will surely propel the nation further into economic chaos and communist principles and is herself married to a morally Trumplike man OR a man who has promised to choose constitutionalist judges, promote a free market economy, protect life and protect us from our enemies. On the other hand, Donald Trump’s opponent promises abortions on demand, socialized medicine, higher taxes, and certainly more government control.

So I ask you? Will we allow the liberals and the media, who will harp on this issue as if it were more important than Hillary Clinton’s treason, to choose our president for us? Or will we fight for our freedom and the freedom of generations to come by voting for a man who spoke loosely eleven years ago yet has a heart to see America retain her founding values. It’s up to us; and next time, perhaps, we’ll choose more wisely when primary season rolls around.
