Should This Mom Be JAILED For Not Following State’s Rules Regarding Her Son?

Written by K. Walker on October 14, 2017

This mom claims that she’s doing what she believes to be the best thing for her son. The state disagrees.
Check it out.

Rebecca Bredow, a 40-year old mom from Michigan, has been jailed for 5 days for refusing to obey a court order that she had previously agreed to.

Bredow has refused to vaccinate her son.

Michigan law requires that both parents agree on opting out of vaccinations for children, and Bredow’s ex-husband does not share her anti-vaccine beliefs. The boy’s biological father, James Horne, has requested that his son receive the vaccinations.

Bredow had previously appeared on Good Morning America saying that she was prepared to face jail time before having her son vaccinated.

She faced the prospect of being a ‘persecuted’ member of the anti-vax movement with fearlessness, and it was so very, very moving — right up until she realized it was about to become a reality.

Then she was terrified.

Watch the Good Morning America coverage:

Judge Karen McDonald calls for her to cut the crap and finds her in contempt of court.

It looks like Bredow wasn’t exactly honest in her court statement, and the judge calls her out:

After her release, Bredow says that it was ‘the longest five days of my life’.

In addition to the jail time, Bredow will also now have 50/50 joint custody of her son.

While she was in jail, Horne had custody of his son, and ensured that the vaccines were being caught-up, as dictated by the court order.

She also said that she and her ex-husband had agreed to vaccinate their son over a period of time, but she later unilaterally decided against it.

Michigan is one of 17 states that allows children to ‘opt-out’ of vaccinations for medical, religious, and philosophical reasons. The only caveat is that both parents must agree on the exemption.

What do you think?

This one’s a real head-scratcher.

Do you side with the state and put precedence on the rights of society to be free from preventable disease?

Or with Bredow in respecting the individual rights of the parents?

Or, do you think that violating a court order that she previously agreed to is what caused the jail sentence?

Let us know what you think in the comments.

Does your grandpa go off on paltry politicians, whether they be Democrats or Republicans? Does he get misty eyed when he talks about God and Country and America’s future? And have you ever heard him scream, ‘Awww … Hell no!’ when Rosie O’Donnell starts yapping on television? If you answered yes to one, or all of the above, then your gramps will love Doug Giles’ latest book, My Grandpa Is A Patriotic Badass.

Don’t be fooled by the title — this ain’t just for Grandpa.
The Snowflake Generation — and the rest of America — needs a good ol’ dose of ‘Grandpa wisdom’.
Especially if that Grandpa is Doug Giles.
You’ll love My Grandpa Is A Patriotic Badass just as much as Grandpa will.
