It was supposed to be a peace rally, with kids on bouncy castles… until some dope pulled a gun and opened fire.
On the upside, because this wasn’t a ‘gun-free zone’, a law-abiding gun owner was on hand to put a quick stop to the bloodshed.
The gunfire happened at 5:20 pm, in the middle of a crowded park.
There was a fistfight earlier in the day, and it’s reported that one of the guys involved in that fight came back with his gun. He opened fire at the event but the only person who got hurt was him.
The bystander who shot the man waited for officers and was cooperative with the investigation, police said.
“We are extremely grateful that nobody else was injured in this incident,” said Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson. “This suspect opened fire at a crowded public park, this could have been so much worse.”
A flyer posted on Facebook and Instagram said a back to school event called “Peace in the City” was going on at the park at the time of the shooting.
