REALITY, RHETORIC and EMPIRICAL OBSERVATION

This is one of those times when I had more than one idea for a column, but couldn’t really settle on what the focus should be.  Then, after reading another writer’s column (from Townhall.com) and watching more than one news report from the southern border, one issue became crystal clear: liberals not only hate us deplorables, but they really do think we’re stupid.
Okay, so they hate us enough to actually use stronger language than “stupid”, but you get the idea.  They honestly think that we’re not going to be influenced by what we are seeing right in front of us on a daily basis.  We’re obviously incapable of discerning the reality of what’s going on around us.  No, it’s apparent that we really do need our elite betters to  tell us what all this truly means (…and if you buy that load of bull caca, I have a bridge I need to unload, the check is in the mail, and yes…I really will respect you in the morning.)
The “migrant” caravan is just one example of the reality of what we’re seeing not matching up the rhetoric of what we’re being told.  We’ve been hearing that the caravan is made up mostly of women, children and family units who are fleeing violence, oppression and poverty and are in search of a “better life”, etc., etc.
However, the reality is that we’re being invaded by a well organized, well-funded horde of young, military-age men.   It’s now documented that MS-13 gang members are present.  What’s also being documented is that the caravan is full of folks with TB, lice, AIDS/HIV, chicken pox, and other diseases and problems they expect the American taxpayer to deal with.
They’re only intent on invading the U.S.  And that’s truly what this is…an invasion.  That’s what normal Americans are seeing.
Other samples of rhetoric versus reality include the on-going Mueller/Russia investigation.  Their rhetoric keeps telling us there is “collusion” with Russia on the part of the Trump campaign.   Never mind that it’s documented that the Clinton campaign did “collude” with actual Russian backed agents.
Another great example is the endless leftists rhetoric about “inclusiveness” and “diversity”.  Talk to any conservative student on any college or university campus about the reality of that rhetoric and listen to what they’ll tell you.
Examples of what we’re being told versus what we’re seeing of the rhetoric and reality not squaring up are legion.  Ever since Clinton lost the election in 2016, the left no longer feels the need to even try and hide their hate for us.  They just want us to believe otherwise.
Speaking of elections, why is it the only time you hear anyone on the left express concern about democracy, the Constitution, the rule of law, etc., is when a Democrat loses an election?   Just sayin’.
In short, our elite betters actually believe we are not paying attention to what we’re seeing.  They couldn’t be more wrong.  I have written before concerning what is called empirical knowledge.  Some might want to use the vernacular of “being woke”.  The dictionary definition, however, is:  “originating in or based on observation and/or experience; relying on information received by the senses.”  (From the Greek empeirikos, meaning experienced.)
Never let them tell you what you’re seeing and experience is false.  Once they control your thoughts and perceptions, it’s the beginning of oppression.
At the start of this article, I mentioned reading a column by another writer.  That writer is Kurt Schlechter and in closing I’d like to share in part what he wrote for Townhall.com  on 11/29/18 in regard to the left’s true feeling about us and their true intentions toward us.
“Actions cause reactions.  Actions against your own people do not provoke fear.  They provoke hate.  Eliminating the ability to channel dissent within the mainstream causes radicalization.  But this is what our elites seek to do, and it is utterly incompatible with the American ideal.”
