Is Gillette pushing an agenda or is this just another marketing ploy?
The company that sells you cheap razors for more than they’re worth has decided to use a transgender male learning to shave as the focus for their new ad.
Toronto-based artist, Samson Bonkeabantu Brown, was born female but has transitioned to male and is ready for that first shave and Brown’s dad, as well as the wokescolds over at Gillette, were there for that momentous event.
The ad was posted to Gillette’s Facebook page with the caption, “First Shave, the story of Samson” along with the hashtag #MyBestSelf.
It begins with Samson sitting on a sofa and speaking to the camera, “Growing up I was always trying to figure out what man I wanted to become and I’m still trying to find out what kind of man I want to become.”
After reviewing the steps, as Samson begins to shave, Dad Brown offers some words of encouragement, “Now, don’t be scared, don’t be scared. Shaving is about being confident.”
Whenever, wherever, however it happens – your first shave is special.

The ad ends with the pair on the sofa again.
“It’s not just myself transitioning but everyone else around me transitioning,” says Samson.
The ad ends with the caption, “‘Whenever, wherever, however it happens — your first shave is special” and then cuts to a smiling image of Samson with the Gillette slogan, “The Best A Man Can Get.”
Really, Gillette? Samson Brown is transmasculine but is not and cannot be a man. Sorry to burst your bubble with biology, wokescolds.
I think Samson touches on the issue that many conservatives have and are criticized as being “intolerant” for their views. Samson says that it’s not just a personal transition, but “everyone else around me transitioning.” That’s just it. Many conservatives are questioning how to navigate the waters of gender on a spectrum when simply verbal affirmation of gender is enough to get a birth certificate changed. There are some people that aren’t making the physical changes that Samson has done, and yet, demands that the rest of us alter our view of reality to suit their feelings.
Not addressing some of these gender identity issues can cause disastrous consequences like the recent incident that tragically ended in a stillbirth because a transgender man went to the hospital not knowing the signs of labor and medical professionals didn’t suspect pregnancy because all documentation listed the patient as “male.” We need to be able to have rational conversations about the impacts of self-identification on things like medical records and sports.
But those on the left will tell you that all of that doesn’t matter because we need to be “tolerant” and “inclusive” as if concern for the health and well-being of transgender individuals is somehow hateful.
The ad is being lauded by the progressives:

Now, I don’t think that Gillette is pandering to the transmasculine community. If they were, that’s a very niche market. I do, however, think that they are pandering to leftists.
They’ve done it before.
The question is, will it pay off this time?
Gillette was sufficiently humiliated on Twitter, as well as their own polling, and the gamble ended up hitting them right in the wallet.
It’s quite the gamble, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if it pays off.
