Forget the fact that Israel is just about the only country in the Middle East where being openly gay is not punishable by law.
That doesn’t matter at all. Israel — and symbols supportive of Israel, like the Star of David, or the Israeli Flag, were verboten at an event organizers called the ‘D.C. Dyke March’.
Their rationale?
The D.C. Dyke March announced the policy last week, telling potential attendees of the event, billed as “an all-inclusive celebration of underrepresented people,” that symbols of “Zionism” would not be tolerated — even though the event organizers explicitly said they would allow Palestinian flags, according to The Washington Times.
Last year, organizers at the Chicago Dyke March enforced a similar policy, ejecting anyone from the LGBT Pride event who openly expressed support for the Jewish state, even though Israel is one of the only gay-friendly Middle Eastern countries. Organizers issued the ban in support of “intersectionality,” and out of concern for “Zionism” within their ranks, which they consider akin to “oppression.”
Yael Horowitz, one of the event’s organizers, told The Washington Times that the D.C. ban was a “protest against ‘nations that have specific oppressive tendencies,’” and that pride flags bearing a similarity to the American flag would be similarly unwelcome.

So, let’s get their argument straight:
Israel welcomes people to march in ‘Pride Parades’, even promoting it on their tourist literature.
Meanwhile homosexuals can be jailed in Afghanistan, Egypt, Gaza, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Syria, UAE, Yemen.
They are flogged in Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia.
They are executed in Iran, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, (UAE?), Yemen.
And yet ISRAEL is the supposed ‘oppressor’ that the marchers supposedly in support of gay rights are singling out?
Are they saying Jewish people aren’t gay too? Or that they’re not allowed to be proud of their heritage the way other cultures are? Seems kind of ‘intolerant’ even Draconian, doesn’t it? What’s REALLY driving this policy?
It sure looks like leftist politics have hijacked another movement, and are consuming it from the inside.
If the ‘DC Dyke March’ were truly consistent with the rainbow tolerance they pretend to be marching in defense of, they would embrace Israel and call on Israel’s neighbors to stop being oppressive… including ‘Palestine’.
But we weren’t REALLY expecting honesty from the militant Left, were we? These are the same sort of activists who got called out for their close ties to Farrakhan and Sarsour in their Women’s March.
