Right Or Ridiculous? Cheerleaders Face Probation For Posing With Trump 2020 Sign

Written by Wes Walker on September 18, 2019

Imagine the outrage if this had happened over open support for Bernie or Pocahontas. Aren’t we supposed to be the ‘land of the free’?

It’s looking more and more like the ‘powers that be’ are convinced we live in a one-party state. You know, one of those places where ‘technically’ the Dear leader faces opposition from another party (for show) but somehow manages to win an overwhelming mandate of 97% of the electorate year after year, because the people know what will happen to anyone who votes for the wrong guy.

Or is this reading too much into it?

Is this just a fair policy trying to keep all politics out of the school so that they can be truly non-partisan? Would they have done the same thing to someone posting with a Democrat sign?

Here’s the report:

Students and cheerleaders apparently posed for photos with a “Trump 2020: Make America Great Again” flag last month and the photo circulated on Facebook.

“If the administration was made aware, they would have asked them not to display it,” school officials told ABC affiliate WSOC.

The cheerleaders will be on probation for the rest of the season. District policy bans political ads at school events.

The school released a statement:

“We are currently investigating this matter but as of this morning we have determined this was not an act planned or endorsed by the school or its staff. A student attending the event brought the flag into the game, which was not present when entering the gate. The picture was taken prior to the event starting. Stanly County Schools respects the rights of its students, staff and visitors to express their opinions in a respectful manner on their own time, however, Stanly County Board of Education policy prohibits the display or distribution of political advertisements on campus or at school events. Further, Stanly County Schools never makes political campaign endorsements. These policies ensure that all students, staff and visitors are able to attend school events in an environment that promotes students and not a particular political viewpoint. Stanly County Schools’ investigation into this matter is ongoing and we will take appropriate action as necessary to ensure Board of Education policy is followed in the future.”

But, we will note this was not DURING the school event, it was BEFORE the event began.

Reports indicate this was also not done by — or with the endorsement of  — any paid staff member, but by students freely associating with one another and what they personally believed.

The claim is that — because they are in uniform — their actions will appear as a school endorsement of their position.

The attention this is getting puzzles her because no student has been suspended or removed by the high school or the school district following the picture’s circulation, [Hope Miller, administrative assistant to the superintendent of the Stanly County Schools] said.

“They have all participated in every event since,” she said, adding that the word “probation” was probably not the best word for the warning against the students.

Marilyn Que Tucker, the commissioner of the athletic association, said in a statement that probation isn’t a punishment.

“It serves as a notice of behavior or action that is against NCHSAA Handbook Policy or contrary to expectations of sportsmanship and proper behavior that could bring additional sanctions, including penalties such as a fine or suspensions, should infractions persist,” she said. “By NCHSAA Handbook Policy, probation may last for a period of up to one year. In the incidence concerned, no opportunities for participation were limited.”

Jeremy Onitreb, who told The Washington Post in Facebook messages he is not a student and does not have any relationship with anyone on the cheer squad, is organizing a free-speech rally on Friday across from the school. As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 130 people have said they’re going and more than 950 people have said they’re interested in attending the event Onitreb created on Facebook.

“The truth is if there were a Bernie 2020 or Biden 2020 [sign] and conservatives complained, nothing would have been done at all,” Onitreb said. “It’s only because of the name Trump that there was ever an issue.”

It will be interesting to see how outlets that had no problem with Colin Kapernick making a political statement in uniform DURING an event will feel about these students expressing their political feelings BEFORE it had even begun.

It’s really hard to imagine any scenario where Tim here would be wrong.

But the impartial Bureaucracy and our faithful public servants don’t ever play favorites, do they? Nah, never.

We’ve all seen the dishonest games the left have played with the power they’re entrusted with, they’re obviously unworthy of that trust.

But what about 2020? Could a moral person pull a lever for Trump with their integrity intact? Would Jesus himself vote for Trump? We’re glad you asked. There’s a brand new book that covers precisely that question:

“Would Jesus Vote For Trump?” by Doug Giles and Brandon Vallorani.

Would Jesus ever choose someone, with a less than stellar past, to be a leader? Would Jesus be cool with how Trump blasts CNN, The Left, and his feckless ‘compadres’ on The Right? What about Health Care? Would the Great Physician give Trump’s opposition to ObamaCare the ‘two thumbs up?’ Find out in this BEST-SELLER!
