State Dept Staffer Rebuffed In 2015 For Concerns About Hunter Biden’s Ukraine Job
Biden would have us believe that Trump is the only one who saw potential conflict-of-interest with Hunter working for Burisma. Fact-check, false -- even WaPo says so.
In fact, a state official was already raising red flags about it even before Trump had descended that fateful escalator.
But the warning about conflict of interest was blown off... by 'lunchbucket Joe' himself.
A career State Department official overseeing Ukraine policy told congressional investigators this week that he had raised concerns in early 2015 about then-Vice President Joe Biden’s son serving on the board of a Ukrainian energy company but was turned away by a Biden staffer, according to three people familiar with the testimony.
George Kent, a deputy assistant secretary of state, testified Tuesday that he worried that Hunter Biden’s position at the firm Burisma Holdings would complicate efforts by U.S. diplomats to convey to Ukrainian officials the importance of avoiding conflicts of interest, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of confidentiality rules surrounding the deposition.
Kent said he had concerns that Ukrainian officials would view Hunter Biden as a conduit for currying influence with his father, said the people. But when Kent raised the issue with Biden’s office, he was told the then-vice president didn’t have the “bandwidth” to deal with the issue involving his son as his other son, Beau, was battling cancer, said the people familiar with his testimony. -- Source: WaPo (paywall)
As a response, Andrew Bates, spokesman of the Biden campaign has replied, “on Joe Biden’s watch, the U.S. made eradicating corruption a centerpiece of our policies toward Ukraine.”
Cool story bro. But is it true?
And does it account for that really inconvenient Politico story that exposed how that same government had to backpedal when Trump took office after her having directly assisted Hillary's 2016 campaign? Have they forgotten THIS headline and subhead are already in the public record?
Ukrainian efforts to sabotage Trump backfire
Kiev officials are scrambling to make amends with the president-elect after quietly working to boost Clinton.
Also, ClashDaily has reported back in MARCH -- as in, BEFORE 'that' phone call -- that Ukraine had ALREADY opened an investigation into the very thing that Trump was supposedly 'pressuring' them to do.
