Because it looks like Trump just leveraged a three-day ceasefire between two groups that have been fighting for literally centuries into something that just might create a lasting truce.
Is this the genocide the Left declared was sure to follow our departure as Turkey came charging for the Syrian border?
This is looking like the predictions of 2016 stock market disaster all over again. The experts saw their predictions fizzle and fail in real time, while Trump found a way forward by leveraging what Lindsay Graham had described as some ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking in the negotiations.

At least he’s honest about his tentative optimism in the stability of the situation. This is a part of the world where the are very few real certainties.
Never one to be encumbered by false humility, Trump said this about America’s role in the ceasefire:

Say what you will about Trump, whether good or ill, the once-popular idea of nation-building abroad (which came with a very high price in blood and treasure) is not an idea to which Trump subscribes. And he has said that from day one.
When we CAN leave, he would argue, we SHOULD leave. Let our finite resources for military preparedness go to facing any threats that should arise actually having a genuine tie-in to the national interest.
