Pelosi’s claim that the President is ‘forever impeached’ is ‘Trumped’ by the fact that he’s ‘forever acquitted’. The trap she set for him boomeranged on her own party.
The Democrats have driven their impeachment clown car to the destination even Hellen Keller could have seen coming: The House filed impeachment papers. The Senate shot them down, and we wind up right back where we started. Well, not QUITE where we started.
When the day of the decisive vote finally arrived, Trump was acquitted on both counts. It was strictly down party lines for the one count, and partisan lines for the other — with Romney being the only one to cross party lines over conviction on Count One.
The grand plan was for Trump to pay a political price for being tagged as ‘impeached’. It hasn’t happened that way. And Pelosi is now in denial over the Senate voting Not Guilty.
Mitch McConnell called her out on it from the Senate floor.
Speaker Pelosi says she will refuse to accept the acquittal, as though she has any kind of authority over decisions the Senate makes. As though she can change reality just by wishing something so.
When the dust had settled, this whole pointless exercise gained her party nothing.
Trump is up in the polls. The Democrats are down in the polls.
Biden’s 2020 bid was a pawn they were willing to sacrifice from the board… and he’s pretty much toast.
And where does that leave us today?
Trump slips free of their trap with all the momentum of a big victory.
And The Dems came out having sacrificed Biden 2020 as a pawn on their chessboard… with no candidate ready to step up and keep Bernie from grabbing their Nomination.
