God Didn’t Give Us A Spirit Of Fear – That’s Coming From El Diablo

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”  – 2Tim.1:7

During this COVID19 “crisis” I’ve seen many Christians cave in to fear.

They went into lockdown mode.

They “socially distanced” themselves from corporate worship and from pretty much everyone and everything else, except, of course, liquor stores and H.E.B..

They call it, “wisdom.”

They said we need to obey Little Lord Fauci for the, “greater good.”

They call it, “loving their neighbor”.

I call it, fear.

Uncut, irrational, unbiblical and not to mention, unconstitutional, fear.

Pure dread, pure terror, pure hysteria and pure panic on a global scale.

We were assured that millions are gonna die if we disobeyed the government.

So we shut down our epic economy.

We crashed our oil futures, much to the delight of Occasio-Cortes.

We stopped attending our Sunday Services and decided to do it online via Facebook which happens to be no fan of Christianity or our Constitution.

We watched news 24/7.

We watched the death counter rack up the numbers of supposed deaths caused by COVID19.

We were told by Fauci, on April 7th, 2020, that we should stop shaking hands forever.

We obeyed our government.

We were encouraged to rat out citizens who were disobedient to local governments. One weasel snitched on their neighbors who broke the new stay at home “laws” by daring to play catch with their little daughter at a deserted park.

We shunned thy neighbor and treated everyone like a diseased hooker because we were told it’s “prudence and based on science.”

I said, “no it’s fear and we look stupid.”

Some pastors who didn’t bow their knee to COVID19 and close their churches were fined and/or arrested.

The “cure” was worse than the disease.

Some Christians blew off Jesus’ call in Matthew 10:8 to cast out demons, heal the sick and raise the dead and, instead, they opted for listening to demons, avoiding the sick and counting the dead.

Some Christians stopped tithing and blew off their commitments because of fear of the new COVID19 unknown. Unreal.

Thank God the fear-addled Christians weren’t around during the bloody persecutions of the Church, or during the Revolutionary War when smallpox was ravaging our troops, or the less than yippy conditions during Martin Luther’s Reformation, or when John Wycliffe enacted his epic work of translating the scriptures in jolly old England because he did that during the first leg of The Black Plague which wiped out 700-800,000 Brits. If phobia infused “believers” were around back then none of the great and glorious progress within the Church or the state would’ve been accomplished because they would’ve been curled up in the fetal position afraid to act because they might get ill.

Look folks, our founders and framers fought a war during a smallpox epidemic and we just gave away our freedoms because we were scared to catch a wicked cold.

Speaking of our rowdy founders, Patrick Henry didn’t say, “Give me liberty or give me death unless, of course, there’s the Coronavirus going around and then I’ll do exactly what the government tells me to do.”

Also, please note that  The First Amendment doesn’t say, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; unless there’s a threat of COVID19.”

Also, Jesus didn’t say to obey Him only when it is convenient and you’re assured that you won’t suffer in this fallen world.

Look, I get the godless flipping out. I don’t get Christians wigging out. In Mt.6:25-34, Jesus states that freaking out over the future is what the unwashed masses do, it’s not what the Christian does.

Sure the Coronavirus is real but so is the flu and it wipes out tens-of-thousands, year after year, and we don’t stop life… like we did with COVID19.

Life, in this fallen world, is going to toss us curveballs aplenty. Jesus promised storms, pain, persecution, and privation. He also promised to protect and provide no matter what comes. To live in fear is to live in sin. Speaking of fear, one of the most repeated commands in scripture is, “fear not.”

The scripture I opened this rant with was 2Tim.1:7 where Paul told his young charge, Timothy, that God doesn’t give us a spirit of fear. If you’re living in fear right now then please understand two things: 1) It is a “spirit”. 2) You didn’t get that from God. That spirit came right out of the bowels of hell.
