Investigative Journalist’s Documentary On The Origin Of The Coronavirus Is A Must-Watch

This fascinating film digs into the initial medical reports, the biology of COVID-19, and the possible source of COVID-19.

Joshua Philipp, the senior investigative reporter for the Epoch Times has done an exhaustive investigation into the origin of COVID-19, the Wuhan coronavirus, the Huanan Seafood market, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and China’s Communist regime’s goal of global domination.

We’ve all heard lots of theories floating around–it was people eating “bat soup” or pangolin meat; medicinal use of bats, pangolin scales, or some other animal; cross-contamination from the wet market in Wuhan; deliberate release of a bioweapon from a research facility; or accidental release of a virus that was being tested. Phillip examines what the most likely cause of the virus could be based on what we know.

Phillip also gives an early timeline of events backed up by documentary evidence.

Early timeline:

  • December 1, 2019, Patient Zero began showing symptoms according to an article in the medical journal The Lancet. There was no connection with this patient and the Huanan Seafood Market.
  • December 10, 2019, three more cases appear, 2 of the 3 have no connection to the Huanan Seafood Market.
  • December 30, 2019, an internal notice by the Wuhan Health Commission about the “continuous occurrence of pneumonia cases of unknown cause at the Huanan Seafood Market” was spread online.
  • December 31, 2019, the Wuhan Health Commission issued a public notice saying that some medical institutions “found a link between the pneumonia cases and the Huanan Seafood Market” but also noted that there was no evidence of “obvious human to human transmission and no infection among medical personnel.”
  • December 31, 2019, the first group from the National Health Commission arrives in Wuhan and establishes a set of diagnostic criteria to determine if a patient was infected by the novel coronavirus which included: fever, the whole genome sequence, and contact with the Huanan Seafood market. This was the criteria used until January 18, 2020,  when a second group of experts arrived and amended it
  • January 1, 2020, the Huanan Seafood Market announced its closure followed by a thorough clean-up of the market site. Since then, Chinese officials note that most cases have a connection to the Huanan Seafood Market.
  • January 1, 2020, Hubei Health Committee notified genome sequencing organizations regarding Wuhan virus samples, “Existing virus samples must be destroyed. Information about the samples, related papers, and related data are all prohibited from release.”
  • January 2, 2020, the Director-General of the Wuhan Institute of Virology sent an internal email to all internal staff prohibiting disclosure of any information relating to the “unknown Wuhan pneumonia.” All detection, empirical data, results, and conclusions related to the outbreak was not to be disclosed by self-media, social media, or even state media.
  • January 3, 2020, China’s National Health Commission released a directive similar to the one issued by the Hubei Health Commission.
  • January 10, 2020, China released the full genome sequence of the Wuhan novel coronavirus.
  • January 20, 2020, Beijing officially acknowledged the epidemic and began a campaign of suppression of information through the central leading group was filled with propaganda officials, and the Vice-Chair of the group is the CCP’s propaganda czar.
  • January 21, 2020, researchers from the Institute Pasteur of Shanghai published a paper in Science China Life Sciences stating that the S protein of the novel coronavirus has a high homology to the SARS virus.
  • January 21, 2020, a new drug, Remdesivir, was provided free by the U.S. to China for Wuhan coronavirus treatment was patented by the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
  • January 25, 2020, an article in The Lancet titled, “Clinical features of patients infected with 2019 novel coronavirus in Wuhan, China” was published
  • January 26, 2020, China’s Institute of Virology, part of their CDC, said that 33 of the 585 environmental samples from the Huanan Seafood Market were found to contain the novel coronavirus nucleic acid. The virus was isolated from the samples. The suggestion was made that wild animals sold at the market were the source of the virus.
  • January 29, The Lancet republished an analysis of 99 cases, 50 of which had no known connection to the Huanan Seafood market.
  • February 3, 2020, Nature publishes a study stating that the novel coronavirus was closely related to two other coronaviruses sampled from bats by the People’s Liberation Army.
  • February 3, 2020, Dr. Wu Xiaohau blew the whistle that Dr. Shi Zhengli’s haphazard laboratory management may have led the Wuhan virus to leak from the Institute of Virology.
  • February 4, 2020, Chairman Xu Bo of Duoyi blew the whistle that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was suspected of manufacturing and leaking the virus.
  • February 7, 2020, top biochemical weapons expert, of the People’s Liberation Army, Chen Wei, assumes control of the Wuhan Insititute of Virology’s P4 lab.
  • February 14, 2020, President Xi Jinping calls for biosecurity to be included in China’s security framework and accelerate the introduction of a biosecurity law which would “strengthen the management of laboratories, especially viruses.”
  • February 15, 2020, the Wuhan Institute of Virology refuted rumors spread on China’s social media networks that Huang Yanling, a female graduate was Patient Zero and had died. Huang’s photo, CV, and thesis were removed from the Institute’s website, but her name was left there.
  • February 17, 2020, researcher at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chen Quanjiao blew the whistle that Wang Yanyi, Director-General of the Institute was suspected of leaking the virus.
  • February 28, 2020, The South China Morning Post published an article stating that the Shanghai P3 Laboratory which first published the COVID-19 genome, was ordered closed by the Chinese Communist government.

Part I: The Story Of The Wuhan Seafood Market

  • The Huanan Seafood Market as the source of the epidemic became an official conclusion.
  • The January 24 article in The Lancet reveals quite a bit about COVID-19 such as: i) Patient Zero’s symptoms began on December 1 and had no contact with the seafood market; ii) no epidemiological link was made between Patient Zero and later cases; iii) more cases appear with no connection to the wet market in Huanan; iv) several cases with connections to the Huanan Seafood Market appeared after December 15; v) no one sells bats at the Huanan Seafood market, nor have any bats been found there; vi) 14 of the 41 cases had no connection to the Huanan Seafood Market.
  • An article in the New England Journal of Medicine notes that if the first patient showed symptoms on December 1, the virus was likely spreading around Wuhan since November 2019, before the first cluster of cases was noticed.
  • The first panel of experts included having a history with the Huanan Seafood Market as one of the criteria for diagnosis even though 1/3 of cases had no history with the wet market. This means that even if someone had a fever and the entire genome sequence but not contact with the market, they would not be classified as having contracted the novel coronavirus. This would also lead investigators to only look at a false source of the virus rather than examining the victims themselves.
  • For 6 weeks (December and January) Beijing suppressed information about the virus, then used propagandists to continue to suppress information once the government was forced to acknowledge the epidemic.

Part II: The Mysterious Gene Sequence

  • The novel coronavirus has an 89% nucleotide similarity as well as a 100% amino acid similarity to the nsp7 and E proteins of the CoVZC45 virus, which was sampled from bats in another province by the Chinese military.
  • A researcher for the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention noted that the novel coronavirus had an 88% identity with two bat-derived severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-like coronaviruses that were collected in eastern China in 2018 and studied at the Institute of Military Medicine Nanjing Command.
  • Dr. Sean Lin, former Lab Director of the Viral Disease Branch of Walter Reed Army Institute of Research said, “It’s hard to see proteins 100% identical when the virus jumps species. That suggests that maybe the virus was generated by a reverse engineer process.”
  • Dr. Judy Mikovits, molecular biologist says, “I certainly believe that the 100% amino acid similarity says it can’t possibly be a natural mutation.”
  • S protein (also known as a “spike” protein) of the novel coronavirus has high similarity to the SARS virus which allows it to spread to humans. The S protein is the “key” that will allow the virus to invade the cell to propagate and destroy it. It is the pathogenic spike protein–if COVID-19 didn’t have it, it couldn’t spread to humans.
  • Dr. Mikovits says that research in SARS spike proteins has been going on in Wuhan since 2007.

Part III: The Discoveries of Dr. Shi Zhengli

  • Dr. Shi Zhengli is a Chinese virologist who has spent many years studying bats and, since the 2003 SARS outbreak, coronaviruses.
  • She was the first to discover the key to how coronaviruses can overcome cross species barriers to infect humans.
  • She was also the first to discover that the SARS virus was the result of the restructuring of multiple SARS-like coronaviruses found in bats.
  • Dr. Shi Zhengli works at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
  • In a 2015 paper that Dr. Zhengli published, she described her own research into synthetic viruses.
  • In 2010, Dr. Zhengli’s team’s focus was redirected to investigate how coronaviruses can spread across species, specifically focussing on the S protein.
  • October 2013, Dr. Zhengli published a paper in Nature that claimed a “breakthrough” in coronavirus research–they had isolated a protein that would allow a coronavirus to spread directly from bats to humans without an intermediary host.
  • In November 2015, another paper was published by Dr. Zhengli and her team regarding a synthetic virus that they produced which was a “self-replicating, chimeric virus.” This virus had the basis of the SARS virus, but with the S protein replaced with the bat coronavirus mentioned in the 2013 paper. This virus exhibited a powerful cross-species infection. Studies injecting the virus into mice showed lung damage that was incurable.
  • Dr. Zhengli wanted to expand the trials of this synthetic virus to primates, which sparked concern from other researchers. Dr. Simon Wain-Hobson, a virologist at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, wrote, “if the virus escaped, no one could predict the trajectory.”
  • On November 14, 2018, Dr. Zhengli spoke at the School of Life Sciences Biotechnology at Shanghai University on the topic of “Studies On Bat Coronavirus and it’s Cross-Species Infection.”
  • In 2014, the Obama administration announced through the NIH a pause in funding on similar research due to public health concerns.
  • Indian researchers compared the S protein of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) spike protein and SARS and found that there had been four new sequences added to it, all of which can be found in HIV. Only three viruses contain all four sequences–the HIV virus itself, a bat coronavirus discovered by Zhengli, and the Wuhan coronavirus.
  • One gene sequence, the gp41 found in HIV, is a protein of HIV which allows entry to the human body which results in the functional failure of the immune system.

What is the motivation for this research, anyway?

Part IV: The Secret of the Wuhan P4 Laboratory

  • January 23, the Wuhan coronavirus spread has exploded and Dr. Shi Zhengli’s team published a paper stating that the virus likely has bat origin. The paper notes that the published genome of the Wuhan coronavirus was 96.2% consistent with a bat coronavirus originating in Hunan, China, signaling a natural source to the outbreak.
  • Instead of inspecting the P4 laboratory in Wuhan which housed many bat coronaviruses and the base where Dr. Zhengli conducts her research, officials shifted focus to the Huanan Seafood market and designated it as the origin of the disease.
  • After the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak, the Wuhan Institute of Virology has been and remains strangely silent, which is suspicious for a specialized facility that was researching precisely the type of virus that the entire world is now fighting to control.
  • The Wuhan Institute of Virology patents a drug donated to China by the U.S. to treat the novel coronavirus.
  • Top biochemical weapons expert, of the People’s Liberation Army, Chen Wei, assumes control of the Wuhan Insititute of Virology’s P4 lab on February 7.
  • The construction of the Wuhan Institute of Virology’s P4 Lab itself raises questions. After the 2003 SARS outbreak, the Chinese Academy of Sciences asked for assistance from the government of France to build a virology research center–a P4 laboratory. The two countries signed a contract to build a P4 laboratory. A French architect was responsible for the engineering of the laboratory, but Chinese authorities switched the work to a local, Wuhan architect which had close ties to subsidies of the Chinese military. The French delayed repeatedly due to security concerns. The lab became operational in 2017, but the French continued to suspect that the P4 lab was conducting bioweapon research.

Part V: Facing the Pandemic

  • At present, the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic has spread to over 190 countries.
  • General Robert Spalding, Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute and former NSC Senior Strategy Director said, “You can see that the WHO is essentially following the Chinese Communist Party’s guidelines.”
  • Gordon Chang, Asian Affairs Expert, “From the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, the Communist Party has done its best to prevent the CDC and others from studying the origin of this disease…The fact that the Communist Party is covering this up should trouble us deeply.”
  • Propaganda has escalated in recent weeks to sow international discord, blame the U.S. for releasing the virus, and insist that the outbreak is under control in China.

Now that you have seen a couple of clips, watch the whole documentary here:

China clearly covered up the outbreak and should be forced to pay restitution for the massive economic damage that has occurred because of it.

Fox News is now reporting that China has covered up the origin of the virus and that sources indicate that it did indeed leak from the P4 Lab of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, but not as a bioweapon, as effort to compete with the United States in fighting viruses.
