CLASH POLL: Should Celebrities Who Want To ‘Defund The Police’ Have To Give Up Their Private Security?

A whole lot of virtue-signaling celebrities are signing an open letter to defund police departments. Here’s why that’s completely stupid.

Systemic racism and police brutality against African Americans has literally become the cause célèbre amongst actual celebrities.

From behind their high walls that hide their huge mansions from the commoners, celebrities have taken a break from flying around in private jets to exotic locations and lecturing aboard their yachts that climate change needs to be taken seriously, in order to address the crisis of the alleged systemic racism in police departments all across the country.

LeBron James tweeted out that African Americans are “literally hunted everyday/every time” they step foot outside their homes.

His view is pervasive, even if it just isn’t true.

According to the Washington Post this “crisis” that people have destroyed swaths of major cities to protest against can be clearly seen in a total of 10 unarmed African Americans killed by white police officers in 2019. And while even one unwarranted death is too many, we need to look at the facts. Of those 10 deaths, 5 of the unarmed individuals had attacked the officer immediately prior to being shot, 1 was deemed to be an accident, and of the final 4 deaths, officers were charged in 2 of them.

ClashDaily covered this thoroughly here:

But the narrative sticks aided by the mainstream media.

We know that African Americans are stopped by police more frequently than other races. It’s also an uncomfortable truth that although African Americans are a small percentage of the population, they commit a large proportion of crime. (See the video with Heather MacDonald at the bottom of the article linked here.)

It’s also clear that there are individuals that are racist in all professions including in police departments. That doesn’t mean that every law enforcement agency is completely corrupted by a handful of terrible individuals, just as not every teacher is a pedophile despite the actions of the Mary Kay Letourneaus within the profession.

Despite facts, the activist group Black Lives Matter is now calling for police departments to be defunded and celebrities are on-board with that.

Celebrities have signed an open letter calling for the police to be defunded and the money saved to be put into healthcare and education for minority communities.

John Legend, Common, the Weeknd, Lizzo, Jane Fonda, and others have signed a new open letter urging local governments to decrease police budgets in favor of spending more on health care, education, and other community programs. Others to sign the letter include Megan Rapinoe, Yada Shahidi, and Anthony Romero, the executive director of the ACLU.

The letter was released by activist Patrisse Cullors, a co-founder of Black Lives Matter and a founding member of the Movement 4 Black Lives, a coalition of more than 100 black-rights organizations. The letter arrives in conjunction with #BlackOutTuesday and #TheShowMustBePaused, a grassroots campaign within the music industry to pause work today, June 2nd, and “reconnect with our community.” Talib Kweli, Natalie Portman, America Ferrera, Brie Larson, and Taraji P. Henson also signed on to support the letter.

The letter doesn’t just lecture about the alleged “systemic racism” in police departments around the country, it also remembers to virtue-signal that the COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately affects black communities.

Do you know what else “disproportionately affects black communities”? Rioting, looting, and burning them down.

Here’s the thing about this nutty response from celebrities–these people will sign onto this because they can hire their own personal security to protect them.

They don’t really care about innocent minorities who are trying to eke out a living and make a better life for their families. They don’t care if communities will be inundated with crime if law enforcement is suddenly withdrawn.

The Black Lives Matter movement is a sham and always has been.

But some folks are catching onto that…

I say we have those celebrities put their money where their signature is–you sign the petition to defund police departments, you stop hiring private security.

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, after all.

If you don’t think that the “little people” need police to protect them, then you don’t need protection yourself.
