UH-OH, JOE! Biden Says That George Floyd’s Death Made A Bigger Impact Than The Assassination Of MLK (VIDEO)
This take is so hot that even El Diablo is saying “Ouch!”
Ok, so maybe we didn’t actually get a statement from the devil, but just think of it as the ClashDaily parallel to David Brooks’s imaginary conversation between “Flyover Man” and “Urban Guy” published in the New York Times.
On Thursday, Joe Biden said that George Floyd’s death has had a greater global impact than the assassination of Civil Rights icon Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did.
Biden, who has been struggling to not alienate black voters after his “you ain’t black” comments to Charlemagne Tha God in May, has been using George Floyd to prop up his pro-black street cred.
He’s made several statements about Floyd’s death, and attended Floyd’s funeral.
Biden even stooped to using George Floyd’s words in a fundraising email that everyone in America–regardless of party affiliation–should find outrageously offensive.

But this latest statement from Biden is pretty astounding.
Joe Biden on Thursday suggested that the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968 did not have the same global impact as the recent death of George Floyd at the hands of police.
Speaking at an economic roundtable in Philadelphia, the presumptive Democratic nominee, 77, said cellphones have changed the way people are able to document police brutality much like television first introduced Americans to the horror of the 1960s civil rights battle.

BIDEN: Even Dr. King’s assassination did not have the worldwide impact that George Floyd’s death did. Because just like television changed the civil rights movement for the better when they saw Bull Connor and his dogs ripping the clothes off of elderly black women going to church and firehoses ripping the skin off of young kids. All those folks around the country that didn’t have black populations heard about this but didn’t believe it. But they saw it. It was impossible to close their eyes. What George Floyd–what happened to George Floyd–now you got how many people around the country? Millions of cellphones. It’s changed the way everybody’s looking at this. Look at the millions of people marching around the world. The world. So, my point is that I think people are really realizing that this is a battle for the soul of America. Who are we? What do we want to be? How do we see ourselves? What do we think we should be?
How can he be serious about that?
It’s absurd.
Of course, we shouldn’t expect anything less from the man who launched his campaign on the Charlottesville Hoax.
The legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and assassination for holding firm in his message of equality through peaceful protest has affected millions of people around the world for more than 40 years. Dr. King’s message of a “colorblind” society that views people as individuals rather than based on skin color has changed hearts and minds for generations now. These violent, destructive riots that have gone on in George Floyd’s name aren’t going to last, and are unlikely to affect any real change.
To a degree, it’s clear that what Biden is saying is true–the new media is certainly powerful. You can watch in real-time what is happening anywhere in the world because everyone has a cellphone and can post livestreaming videos.
But the amplification of George Floyd’s horrific death isn’t just due to social media, although it has played a vital and huge role. It’s also partly because the Media(D) and an activist leftwing organization have been pushing a narrative that African Americans are being slaughtered by police at an unprecedented rate, but the facts don’t back that up.
George Floyd’s death has been hijacked by leftwing activists to promote everything from reforming policing to abolishing police departments entirely; removing statues and an Oscar-winning film to demanding free college tuition and universal healthcare. Now, protesters in Seattle have taken over an area of the city and established an “autonomous zone” which they claim is no longer part of the United States and police are not permitted inside.
The outrage may have begun with the cold-hearted police brutality that caused the death of George Floyd, but this “movement” isn’t just about him anymore. It’s not even about police brutality.
It has morphed to be about leftism and the election. Anyone saying otherwise is being dishonest.
