People thought Jimmy Kimmel was funny once. At least, I think they did. Late-night comedy isn’t what it once was.
Somewhere along the line, it became more important for ‘comedians’ to play the role of unfunny social influencers sinking axes into the skulls of their political rivals than it was to make anyone actually… you know … laugh.
Maybe that’s why Greg Gutfield has come out of nowhere to beat all of the ‘big players’ in some recent ratings battles.
Jimmy Kimmel, who had once served the role of Hollywood’s defacto ‘Progressive Pope’, is taking a break for the summer. Conveniently, it’s happening at JUST the point in our history where anyone who has even a WHIFF of racism in his history.
The fact that Jimmy painted his skin brown and pretended to be Karl Malone gives him a good reason to make himself scarce for a little while.
Kimmel, 52, is facing increasing pressure to follow his fellow comedian Jimmy Fallon and apologize for wearing blackface in skits.
He insisted on Thursday, however, that all was well with him and his family, and he simply needed a break.
‘I’m taking the summer off to spend even more time with my family,’ he announced.
‘I’ve been doing this job for almost 18 years. I’ve done 3,130 shows and there’s nothing wrong.
‘My family is healthy, I’m healthy. I just need a couple of months off.’ –Source: DailyMail
How worried should he be, really? If history is any indicator, he’s probably gonna skate on this. He does, after all, have the implicit immunity of that magical (D) party affiliation after his name. The Media(D) tends to forgive their own.
In fact, one observant writer, Kyle Smith, noticed that of all the prominent leftists that have worn blackface… including actors and actresses, Prime Ministers and Governors, the only two people who have paid any real price for blackface are Megyn Kelly — who, so far as we know, never actually wore blackface — and one ordinary person who dressed in a costume of blackface at a private party, with the express intent (including a name badge) of mocking… Megyn Kelly.
Will Late-night comedy’s Progressive Pope get a pass from the Media(D). Smart money says they’ll find some way to forgive him.
After all, he is a true believer in OrangeManBad.
