Alyssa Milano Defends Old Video Where She Deliberately Darkened Her Skin To Parody A ‘Person Of Color’

Isn’t any darkening of the skin considered “blackface” now?

If L’Oréal has to remove their skin lightening creams to quell the woke mob, surely an actress who deliberately darkened her skin by use of makeup should face some reckoning as well?

The photos of Alyssa Milano with her skin darkened are from a 2013 Funny or Die video where she parodied reality star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi from Jersey Shore.

On Saturday, Milano lamented “right wing trolls” that were going after her for using a still from the video to attack her. It was just a parody of Snooki, she said.

Ah, well, the reason is irrelevant.

This wasn’t just poking fun at a Jersey Shore resident known for her intense tanning. Snooki is a “person of color” and that makes parodying her off-limits.

Polizzi was born in Chile and raised by adoptive parents who were Italian Americans.

In a 2018 YouTube vlog post, Snooki said, “I would say once I was 16, 17, I started to think, ‘Why didn’t my birth parents want me? What do they look like? Do I have any brothers and sisters?’ Because I grew up an only child, I always wanted a brother or sister to grow up with.”

She had always identified as Chilean until she had her first child and decided to do a DNA test to find out exactly what heritage she hailed from. She was stunned to discover that she wasn’t Chilean after all.

According to her official DNA testing results, Polizzi is part Romani, which is an ethnic tribe from Northern India, gypsy, Iberian American, South Asian, East Asian, Middle Eastern, and Jewish with roots in North Western Croatia, Macedonia, Slovakia, Russia, and Spain.

Is Alyssa Milano seriously defending darkening her skin to mock a “person of color” now?

She needs to wear it as thorough as the bronzer was in the Funny or Die video.

Milano is still backpedaling and saying it’s no big deal.

Right.

Normally, I’d agree.

But that’s not how this works in 2020.

This is the same woman that worked hard to scuttle Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during the confirmation process because of completely ridiculous and unfounded allegations of attempted sexual impropriety that allegedly occurred when he was a teenager. There is no evidence that he had ever met his accuser, and every bit of “evidence” she put forward was thoroughly debunked.

None of that was good enough for Milano. She was determined to keep Brett Kavanaugh off of the Supreme Court for an unfounded allegation of something that happened several years before she had made her television debut as Tony Danza’s daughter in a family-friendly sitcom.

And now, Milano is on the Biden bandwagon despite the Tara Reade sexual assault accusation.

But I digress…

If Megyn Kelly can get booted off of NBC for talking about blackface, surely Milano can be banished into the outer darkness where there is weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth for actually wearing it, right?

It seems that the only person who seems to have had any negative consequence for “blackface” is the woman who was simply asking questions about it on a daytime talk show. Oh, and Mary Poppins, but she’s fictional, so it doesn’t really count.

Milano will get a pass just like the Governor of Virginia that can’t recall if he was the one in the KKK costume or the one in blackface, the Prime Minister of Canada who has a penchant for costumes, and late-night comedians and a shock-jock who have no trouble mocking individuals. Even Joy Behar managed to get off scot-free for dressing up as a “beautiful African woman” for a Halloween party decades ago.

Some of these things used to be considered comedy, like Jimmy Kimmel parodying Karl Malone, or appreciation–but as Megyn Kelly’s firing has clearly shown, there is no excuse for blackface ever, and merely mentioning that there is even a remote possibility is grounds for cancellation.

If the left insists on having these rules, then we need to hold them to the rules.

Until they’re willing to lay down the “cancel culture” torches and pitchforks, we shouldn’t unilaterally disarm. They’re not going to give up their weapon of choice, so why should we?
