AOC: ‘Defund The Police’ Means They Really Want To DEFUND The Police

The Left’s little darling is not impressed by De Blasio’s press conference about taking a Billion dollars out of the NYPD budget. It’ wasn’t enough.

You remember AOC, don’t you? She’s been crowded out of the news lately, but she’s determined to get right back into it. We haven’t heard too much from her in the last six months. Impeachment, SuperTuesday, The rise (and mental decline) of Biden, Coronavirus, and now Antifa/BLM riots have all edged her out of center stage.

That doesn’t mean Alexandria can’t try to shoulder her way back into it. Especially when issues near-and-dear to her Democratic Socialists Of America ar front-and-center.

“Defunding police means defunding police,” the Democrat said in a statement Tuesday to the Gotham Gazette, Fox News reported. “It does not mean budget tricks or funny math. It does not mean moving school police officers from the NYPD budget to the Department of Education’s budget so the exact same police remain in schools.

“It does not mean counting overtime cuts as cuts, even as NYPD ignores every attempt by City Council to curb overtime spending and overspends on overtime anyways,” she continued. “It does not mean hiring more police officers while cutting more than $800 million from NYC schools.

“If these reports are accurate, then these proposed ‘cuts’ to the NYPD budget are a disingenuous illusion,” she added. “This is not a victory. The fight to defund policing continues.” —WashingtonTimes

You can bet the ‘fight’ will continue. After all, none of the elected officials have any will to stop this:

But is anyone really ready for the consequences if they ‘win’?

For all the taxpayers and businesses that will flee the city?
For the collapse of the tax base?
For NYC crime shooting back up to 1970s levels?
For budget shortfalls to force the loss of the very programs they think they’re fighting for?

Be careful what you ask for, New York. You’ve chosen for yourself leaders who have embraced the same blueprint that transformed once-rich Venezuela into the dumpster fire it has since become.
