NFL Plans To Play ‘Black National Anthem’ Before Star Spangled Banner At Games

In this battle for the Soul of America, of Patriotism vs. America-hating, the NFL has picked their side. How will you, the fans, respond?

What began years ago with an act of kneeling had settled down for a while. But with the meteoric rise of BLM’s cultural clout in 2020, the presence of protest in professional sport has roared back with a vengeance.

Basketball’s immediate capitulation to the movement should have surprised exactly nobody. They are allowing political slogans where their names would be on the jersey, plus political messaging at the arena itself.

But NFL football has been torn on these issues in the past. They were slow to capitulate, because they knew how strongly opposed many of their fans would be to ANY anti-patriotic message.

All that has changed.

We’ll look at three things: the NFL’s new plan; how that compares to their history; and why that is an especially bad idea in the nation’s current situation in 2020.

First, the new plan:

“Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” will be performed live or played before “The Star-Spangled Banner” prior to each NFL game during Week 1 and the league is considering putting names of victims of police brutality on helmet decals or jersey patches, a person familiar with the discussions told The Associated Press.

The person said the league is working collaboratively with players to recognize victims of systemic racism throughout the season in a variety of ways. The person spoke to the AP on Thursday on condition of anonymity because discussions between the league and the NFL Players Association are ongoing.

Additional plans include the use of educational programs and storytelling about the victims and their families similar to the league’s PSA on Botham Jean released in January and the Super Bowl commercial on Corey Jones featuring his cousin, former NFL star Anquan Boldin. —WashingtonTimes

A Bad Idea

Before changing the tradition, it helps to think about why it’s there in the first place. Our tradition of singing the anthem before a game is no different.

Sports are intensely competitive. Someone will be going home a loser.

But for one brief moment, before the game, everyone is singing one anthem, united as one people. That is a rare and precious thing. A rare and precious thing that those who hate America and her traditions want to destroy for reasons of their own.

But with cities burning down, do we need MORE reasons to divide ourselves — like a racially segregated ‘national’ anthem? Or do we need to be more united?

This is a bad idea. And we expect that fans will be voting with their feet over this issue… especially since BLM is founded by Marxists, and you gave them millions of dollars to undermine the nation.

Maybe you don’t really need all that concession income, ad revenue, or merchandise sales after all.
