The “Abraham Accord” is a massive achievement for the Trump administration.
President Trump made the announcement on Thursday that a peace deal has been brokered between Israel and the United Arab Emirates to resume normal diplomatic relations for the first time in 49 years.
President Trump said that the new agreement would be known as the “Abraham Accord” because Abraham is the “father of all three great faiths.” He hearkened back to his magnificent 2017 speech in Saudi Arabia where he said that peace in the Middle East could only be achieved when “people of all faiths come together.”
David Friedman, the U.S. Ambassador to Israel said, “No person better symbolizes the potential for unity among all these three great faiths than Abraham and that’s why this accord has been given that name.”
President Trump then joked that he wanted it to be called the Donald J. Trump Accord but he “didn’t think that the press would understand that.” The comment received a few laughs in the room.

President Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed released a joint statement which “agreed to the full normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.”
The statement calls the agreement a “diplomatic breakthrough” that was made “at the request of President Trump.”
The deal includes the suspension of Israel declaring sovereignty over “areas outlined in the President’s Vision for Peace and focus its efforts now on expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world.”
This is a huge win for the Trump administration, the Middle East, and the world. President Trump says that this is just the beginning and he sees more deals with other Middle Eastern countries in the future now that “the ice has been broken” with the UAE.
President Trump also said that he believes that he will be able to broker a deal with Iran within 30 days of his reelection.

Israel and the UAE also said they will continue their efforts to “achieve a just, comprehensive and enduring resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
Delegations from Israel and the UAE are expected to meet in the coming weeks to “sign bilateral agreements regarding investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, energy, healthcare, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies, and other areas of mutual benefit.” “Opening direct ties between two of the Middle East’s most dynamic societies and advanced economies will transform the region by spurring economic growth, enhancing technological innovation, and forging closer people-to-people relations,” the statement also read.
Trump on Thursday said he had a call with Israel and the United Arab Emirates. The president told reporters Israel and the UAE will “begin cooperation across the board,” along with exchanging embassies and ambassadors. The president said he expected other countries to follow the UAE’s lead on this effort to cooperate with Israel going forward.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also praised the move calling it a “remarkable achievement” and a “significant step forward for peace in the Middle East.”
