Hunter Gored To Death By Elk–The Day AFTER He Shot It With An Arrow

Hunting on private property doesn’t make an encounter with wild animals any less dangerous.

Nature, as they say, is ‘red in tooth and claw’.

While Portland has predators of a different sort roaming the streets, rural Oregon had the more traditional form of hunting between man and beast.

Mark David, 66, didn’t fare so well in his encounter with nature. This time of year, a bull can be especially dangerous to tangle with.

Mr. David was bowhunting on private property on Friday night and managed to hit an elk. But he only wounded the animal, he didn’t kill it. He wasn’t able to track where it went in the darkness, so he picked up his search again in the daylight.

The good news is that he found the elk he was looking for. The bad news was it found him too, and it was NOT happy to see him.

[Mark David] set out with the property owner to find the elk and at around 9.15am on Sunday morning they found the animal alive.

David attempted to kill the elk with his bow but the enraged animal charged at the hunter and gored him in the neck with his antlers.

The property owner attempted to intervene but David suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

‘The landowner attempted to help David but he sustained fatal injuries and died,’ Oregon State Police said.

The elk was killed and the meat was donated to the Tillamook County Jail following the investigation, police said in a statement.

Get Doug Giles’ book, Rise, Kill and Eat: A Theology of Hunting from Genesis to Revelation today!

If a person looked to Scripture and paid particular attention to the passages within the Bible that address the topic of hunting, then they’d walk away thinking not only is hunting animals tolerated but it is endorsed by God. And that’s exactly what this little book is about: proving that God, from Genesis to Revelation, is extremely cool with hunters and hunting. I’ll go out on a biblical limb and claim right off the bat that you cannot show me, through the balance of the Bible, that the God of the Scripture is against the responsible killing and the grilling of the animals He created. ~Doug Giles

In his killer new book RISE, KILL & EAT: A Theology of Hunting From Genesis to Revelation Doug carries on with his courageous war against the lunatic fringe who dare recommend Bambi solutions to the annual production of edible wildlife. –Ted Nugent
