WATCH: 70-Year Man Brutally Assaulted By ‘Protesters’ For Defending A Business That Had Been Set On Fire

An elderly man was attacked as he tried to protect a local business that had been set on fire during the protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

The “Protest the Protesters” Facebook page posted this video and it quickly went viral.

After Action Report shared it on Twitter where it quickly racked up more than 1.7 million views in 15 hours.

The video shows a man who has been identified only as “Mr. Robert” in another video. He’s approximately 70 years old.

In the video, the person filming says, “this poor man got his business caught on fire.”

It’s unclear what Robert’s relationship is to the business, but according to a GoFundMe page that has been set up, it appears that he is a friend of the owners who was in the area and took action when the building was set on fire.

Robert is first seen walking with a fire extinguisher to the back door of his business, a mattress store, that has been set on fire by “protesters.”

The person filming says, “I’m sorry, sir. I’m very sorry about that, man.”

He responds, “Yeah, really.”‘

“Hey, I had nothin’ to do with it–I’m just trying to stop this sh*t, here,” says the person filming, “Dude, I’m gonna help this guy. I don’t give a f*ck if I get beat up.”

Robert is clearly trying to protect the business from looters.

You can see that people are running out of the back door carrying bottles. A couple of times Robert sprays the fire extinguisher at protesters. Another “protester” standing on the street tosses a bottle at him and then another one sucker punches him. Robert goes down hard and is bloodied.

It’s a difficult video to watch.

Protest the Protesters captioned the video, “So this is a clip of the 71 year old man defending his store from looters n then getting beat up for it! This is stopping tonight!! Y’all need to stand the f*ck up with me n take out cities back! If there where 30 or 30 of y’all with me that man wouldn’t have had that happen but I’m one women’s here so please come help next time!! #backtheblue.”

A GoFundMe has been set up for Robert and for the mattress store.

The page states:

Monday August 24, 2020 protesters and looters set fire to Sue and Keith’s magical mattress shop in Kenosha, WI.  The building and all contents are completely destroyed.  Our dear friend Robert was onsite and tried to stop the fire. Robert was viciously attacked and beaten.  Emergency medical attention was needed and further surgery will be required. I have seen these three folks help neighborhood people for years with money, food, mattresses when no one could afford to pay.  They have served the Kenosha community selflessly and so didn’t deserve this horrible attack.
I have known this wonderful folks for years.  They are honest, hard working and honorable people.  Please give if you can and please please share.

Several comments offer prayers for Robert along with a donation.

Mr. Robert sustained a broken jaw, black eye, and multiple stitches.

The update was given by a man who had a shop in front of the mattress store.

This is not a “peaceful” protest. It’s not even a “mostly” peaceful protest. This is lawlessness.

People are getting hurt, businesses are being destroyed and for what? Because people are angry? That’s not an acceptable reason. What did Mr. Richard, and his friends who owned the mattress shop have to do with the shooting of Jacob Blake? Absolutely nothing. But they’re paying a price, aren’t they?

On Tuesday, Jacob Blake’s mother, Julia, begged protesters to stay peaceful. She said, “If Jacob knew that was going on as far as that goes–the violence and the destruction–he would be very unpleased.”

George Floyd’s family had done the same.

Let’s hope that Julia Blake’s words are heard and heeded.
