It’s Official! Trump Names Amy Coney Barrett As SCOTUS Nominee–Here’s The 411
Get ready for the left to attack an accomplished mother of seven. It’s gonna be a wild ride!
Judge Amy Coney Barret, 48, was named as President Trump’s selection to fill the Supreme Court vacancy after the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on September 18.
Judge Barrett had clerked for the late, great, Originalist Justice Antonin Scalia, and she said that his judicial philosophy is her judicial philosophy–“a judge must apply the law as written. Judges are not policy-makers and they must be resolute in setting aside any policy views they might hold.”
She was a law professor at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana until she was selected by President Trump to join the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in 2017. During that confirmation process, she was grilled by Democrat Senators about her faith.

She’s also a devout Catholic with seven children, two of whom are adopted and from Haiti, and her youngest has special needs.
Barrett was a contender in 2018 for the seat vacated by Justice Anthony Kennedy, but that seat was filled by Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Axios reported in 2019 that President Trump was “saving” Barrett for RBG’s seat according to “sources familiar with the president’s private comments.”
Today, it was my great honor to nominate one of our nation’s most brilliant and gifted legal minds to the Supreme Court. The Daily Mail covered Judge Barrett’s “meteoric rise” from law prof to SCOTUS nominee.
Here is President Trump making the announcement and Judge Barrett’s first public statement after becoming a nominee to the Supreme Court:
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) laid out a timeline on Judge Janine Pirro’s show on Fox News and said that the hearings will begin on October 12.
The left is, quite predictably, losing their minds.
There are a couple of issues for them here–Amy Barrett as the replacement, the timeline, and anti-Catholic bigotry.
Democrats are shrieking and hysterical that their favorite activist Supreme Court Justice could be replaced by a woman who clerked for Antonin Scalia.
Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is tremendously worried that ACB will be an activist Justice like the “Notorious RBG” and will undo her legacy of legislating from the Bench.
"A vote for Amy Coney Barrett is a dagger aimed at the heart of the healthcare protections Americans so desperately need and want.”

Legislation from the Bench is why the left has its hair on fire because of this nomination. Recalibrating the Supreme Court to judges that have the judicial philosophy of Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh is very bad news for the left. Although it does not guarantee that conservatives will consistently win every case as we’ve seen by recent decisions by both Kavanaugh and Gorsuch, it does mean that rights will no longer be found in the “penumbrae and emanations” of the Constitution which has been happening for decades now. It will force the legislature to actually do their job and be accountable to the electorate. Not only that, it will stop the encroachment of the will of the leftists at the federal level onto states. And we all know that leftists aren’t so keen on federalism and oppose that every chance they get. They want the entire country to look the same, think the same, and behave the same. They want to California your Texas and New York your Tennessee.
The second issue with Amy Coney Barrett is that she’s a devout Catholic. That’s a strange objection because they don’t seem to have the same concerns about Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) or their current Presidential candidate, Joe Biden.
Here is Mazie Hirono (D-HI) with some pretty wild anti-Catholic sentiment here:

They’ve already attempted to smear Barrett’s Charismatic Catholic prayer group, People of Praise, as “inspiration” for Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel, The Handmaid’s Tale. It isn’t true, but many leftists fearful of religion and members of the media that are woefully ignorant of faith don’t understand it. The issue is that People of Praise calls their female leaders “handmaids.” This is a direct reference to Mary who said to the angel that appeared to her, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.”
Judge Barrett has clearly stated that she will look at each case individually and decide it on merit–her faith will not play a role in her decisions.
Nevertheless, Democrats are opposing her for a variety of reasons.
Senator Richard “Stolen Valor” Blumenthal (D-CT) admits that there is nothing unconstitutional about the nomination.
After getting called out, Blumenthal admits confirming Judge Barrett doesn’t violate the Constitution.
BLUMENTHAL: It is illegitimate.

Predictably, the attacks have begun on her family–specifically that she has adopted two black children.
Disgusting. The left now smearing Amy Coney Barrett for adopting children. pic.twitter.com/zFomehwwDW

Feminists are now saying that a woman actually can’t have it all, after all.
And if there aren't enough hours in the day for her to work and mother those kids, when she portrays herself as a home-centered Catholic who puts family over career, isn't she telling a lie?

One of the most influential proponents of “anti-racism”–which basically means that all white people need to admit their inherent racism–Ibram X. Kendi, is calling Barrett’s adoption of two Haitian children “colonization.” It’s a disgusting and blatantly racist statement, but thousands of people liked his trio of tweets.
Some White colonizers "adopted" Black children. They "civilized" these "savage" children in the "superior" ways of White people, while using them as props in their lifelong pictures of denial, while cutting the biological parents of these children out of the picture of humanity. https://t.co/XBE9rRnoqq

I’m challenging the idea that White parents of kids of color are inherently “not racist” and the bots completely change what I’m saying to “White parents of kids of color are inherently racist.” These live and fake bots are good at their propaganda. Let’s not argue with them.

Meghan McCain notes that the bias is already seeping into the coverage of Judge Barrett.
She has the same amount of kids that my Dad did. I don’t ever remember a journalist commenting about our “large family” when we all walked together. https://t.co/ivWyq03LUu

If the Kavanaugh confirmation was an indicator, this is going to be one heckuva confirmation circus!
That was one conservative replacing another. This is a conservative tipping the balance of the Supreme Court and replacing the left’s beloved Ruth Bader Ginsburg. They’re not going to let that seat go without an absolute brawl.
